  1. Bilstein HDs

Quoting idreamidrive: I have a Bilstein dealer in the US looking for 34-050392 right now.i posted this on one of the other threads. way back when, i got a set made by bilstein for the vr4 out of europe, where they had stock. the company i worked for was a big bilstein distributor, and i...
  2. FS: Suspension Parts

Quoting belize1334: C'mon people. The bilsteins are possibly the best bolt-in shock you can get on the market today, especially now that Koni has dropped our line. Those and the Teins are a BARGAIN at this price.actually, bilstein did make a set for the vr4. when i was in sales, we were...
  3. BITCHIN TOOL!!!! Coolant

ok, here is what i tried:clickit didnt work. and to answer the question about the amount of vacuum, this uses a venturi type of vacuum. iow, it uses shop air to blow over a venturi, so each system will pull as much vacuum as needed. this is not like an a/c vacuum pump, where it...
  4. BITCHIN TOOL!!!! Coolant

this millenia has been kicking my ass. i did a water pump, and i have been chasing an airlock problem for weeks. i even bought a lisle funnel tool that didnt work. i knew it was airlock, but i just couldnt fix it. plus, it is so hot here, i didnt have any real motivation. tried all kinds of...
  5. BITCHIN TOOL!!!! Coolant

Quoting Muskrat: Interesting. How much did I run you? That's basically how OEM's fill cooling and brake systems.clickthe fittings are top notch.
  6. BITCHIN TOOL!!!! Coolant

i just used this. wow. if you ever had problems burping a cooling system, you need to get one of these.click
  7. old guys

  8. Car cover?

i have one for the mazda millenia, i think it is genuine mazda, and it used to fit the galant perfect. even the mirror covers. i was amazed. used it more on the galant than the mazda.
  9. Extremely slow response across entire site

    i think it's racial
  10. Motor oil test, shocking results Mobil 1, Redline, Royal Pur

when any of those other companies walk the walk, like: click and: click or: clickTHEN i might use something else. anyone ever seen a commercial by mobil about the million mile bmw? and why not? also, at about 600k, the bmw blew a coolant hose, and the computer shut it down. the next day...
  11. DongeR

sold him some stuff a while ago, and got paid really fast. but i already spent it.
  12. FS: White '91 #1900 in North Texas plus spare motor, $3000 obo

what is the condition of the transmission, xfer, rear diff, stuff like that? what is it's history, is it a texas car?
  13. Downpipe for Evo 3 O2

Quote: So the RRE Evo 3 downpipe only works with Apexi exhaust? Why is that? It seems like if it'll work with one catback it should work with any of them. Why would Apexi's flange be any different?the rre pipe is flanged/cut to fit the apexi exactly. rre tells you this up front. rre...
  14. Downpipe for Evo 3 O2

Quote: I am running the RRE EVO3 DP on my SBR GT10. Flows great, matches up great, no more exaust leaks. A quality unit that fits great. I got the long version of it for use with out a cat. My local muffler shop cut and matched it to my existing 3" SS exaust.i did this too. when i first...
  15. brake pads for street

Quote: Quote: the absolute best pad for street is akebono ceramics. little to no dust, and good stopping. the exact opposite is pbr ceramics, which will dust with the car just sitting in the garage. we have the akebono's on the mazda's, and i am amazed at how little dust there is. lots of...
  16. brake pads for street

the absolute best pad for street is akebono ceramics. little to no dust, and good stopping. the exact opposite is pbr ceramics, which will dust with the car just sitting in the garage. we have the akebono's on the mazda's, and i am amazed at how little dust there is. lots of bmw shops have...
  17. Ball Joint

i bought the factory tool from otc. cost me 200 bucks. slicker n' sh*t. looks like forged steel, with really long, thin jaws. works on other cars, too. which is a good thing, since i no longer have the galant.
  18. Ball Joint

Quote: hat brands would those be?I just put on TRW Ball joints and Moog Tie rod ends a few months back. They seem ok but I hardly drive the car.be careful. some name brands aint what they used to be. check for country of orgin. trw used to be top notch, oem supplier to bmw...
  19. Ball Joint

Quote: count threads or mark the location of the old one, so sh*t isn't completely out of wack, you might still want an alignment, but this might save you some time and money. Buy a moog(brand) grease-able ball joint, and add grease at every/ every other oil change. take you time and look for...
  20. adjusting cam timing to crank postion

if the rockers are all still in place, that is a good sign. the best way will be to line it all up, then crank it over and do a compression test. that will tell you right away if there are any bent valves. to realign the cams/crank is like a forth of a belt job.
  21. where to buy cyclone intake gasket?

you dont want it to stay together forever. you want it to seal, but be easily removeable. when installing the cyclone, it is way easier to take it apart, install the part that bolts to the head, then assemble the rest. unless you got a couple extra joints in your hands/wrists.
  22. where to buy cyclone intake gasket?

i had to make 2 sets. not very difficult, but it does require a lot of patience. then, i coated them with hylomar. i even reused them. a thin coat of hylomar on the factory gaskets makes them easily removed, and reuseable. i also used the hylomar on both sides of the valve cover gasket...
  23. Alternator

hawaii? i used to live there. there IS a checker auto parts, in kailua. used to be andy's drive in, one of my favorite hangouts. iirc, the very first drive in there. andy wong. made a killing on that place, paid for it in 2 years. burger, fries, and a coke, 49 cents. ooo. craig's...
  24. A/C Problems

the reason i would go new is because i sell the crap out of evaps. or, at least, i USED to. even tho they are for german cars, i would think they are all made the same. i also have a couple of friends who work at a/c stores here in dallas, and they sell the crap out of them, even to dealers...
  25. A/C Problems

i pulled the evaporator. you can easily do it with the dash still in place. when i did the heater core, i had to pull the dash. you do have to pull the glovebox, then you access it from there. iirc, only 4 bolts/nuts hold it in place. i would never put a used evap in. think about it, any...
  26. Lead Acid battery shopping

Quote: OK, I'm totally fed up with this Odyssey 925 not holding a charge, even with a trickle charger on it 24/7, and I want to go back to a standard lead acid-type battery. Problem is, since I relocated the battery, I need to find one that is roughly the same dimensions. Does anyone know WHERE...
  27. Koni adjustables?

Quote: I just aquired my first VR4 and it has KYB AGX in the back and I think it has Koni's in the front, (maybe AGX) but i cant see them. My question is how do I adjust the front dampers. I know you usually do it on the top, so thats where i started and all i have is a yellow tab. Do I turn...
  28. Saturn Exhaust Mannifold studs

18 10 7 523 805i also upgraded to ss studs. cost more, but i consider it cheap insurance. the bmw nuts NEVER come off by themselves, but when you need to, they are easy to remove, and i have reused them. the "shoulder" is really big and thick. they fit perfect.
  29. Saturn Exhaust Mannifold studs

those nuts are copper COATED. copper aint magnetic, these nuts are. the later style bmw nut has a larger "shoulder" and an alloy helicoil. they are really trick
  30. Water Injection - Intercooler Pipe or Manifold?

imho, once you get a wi system installed and running, you will realize how simple the system can be, and still work. i have NEVER had a shurflo pump die. i did have the switch assembly leak, i think it froze and cracked. i also had that crap blue w/w fluid clog up the inlet filter(they dont...
  31. Coil on plug advantage

cop systems keep people like me eating. we sell the crap out of coils. bmw is replacing them like there is no tomorrow. couple of months ago, one dealer up north ordered a whole PALLET of replacement coils. used to be i would sell hi tension wire sets, and a coil now and then. i've already...
  32. TEL oil cooler mount

look at the factory banjo bolts. when the threads stop, and it is smooth to the hex head, it is the same diameter. the metric/an fittings i got, where the threads stopped, it got smaller. so the factory washers(expensive suckers, too. about 4 bucks each) could not center. also, you MUST be...
  33. TEL oil cooler mount

Quote: I was looking at the fittings last night the surface is MUCH smaller than the stock banjo bolts. They don't take up near the sealing surface that the bolts did, which was all of it. Did you use the stock washers with the exact fittings listed above? I just want to make sure they will...
  34. oil pressure reading - the head or at the oil filter?

how the heck can the location of the sender make a difference, you probably gotta be looking right at it when the pump/pressure dies, then you only got a few seconds. so, picture kc winding first, then checking out his neighbor, and as he speedshifts second, the oil pump fubars, right at 7k...
  35. AC system: R12 or R134A

Quote: Is there a way to know for certain I SHOULD replace the dryer, or just a good precautionary idea.I want to vacuum test mine because it has all been apart and I replaced most of the orings. Want to make sure it all works before I fill it.if your system has been open to atmosphere...
  36. water and methanol

in the early days of wi and the galant, my wi was not sophisticated, basically a pump, nozzle(s), and a hobbs switch. i was experimenting with things like what boost level, what size nozzle, nozzle placement, things like that. the stock intercooler/piping was still on the car. i even had an...
  37. water and methanol

Quote: if you want to take full advantage of W/I you need to dynotune it, not just install it. Youll lose HP by installing it, then you need to retune it on the dyno.huh? where do you get this from? i had water injection for years. all i saw was knock eliminated(more timing, more...
  38. spark plug gap

i also have torque sockets for the plugs. they have a magnet inside, no rubber, so it holds the plugs very nicely. they are click stop, at 18 toes/ft.
  39. spark plug gap

actually, for lots of mods or high boost, use the W7DTC(colder, on bosch, the lower number means colder) which i used, or ngk BP7ET(ngk is opposite, higher number is colder).
  40. spark plug gap

try the bosch W8DTC or the ngk BP6ET. triple electrode plugs factory gapped at .28, exact same heat range and reach for our cars. 3 electrodes are better than 1
  41. fuel on intake manifold

most of the time, the fuel is under really high pressure. it can be squirting out, hitting the top of the hood, and puddling. this is SO dangerous. maybe energizing the fuel pump lead in the engine bay and looking around might help you find it, but man, sparks, etc, with the hood open, if the...
  42. radiator hose

the silicone hoses for the t/e/l will fit, they have to be trimmed. i was very pleased with them, but they are expensive.
  43. GReddy Profec B Spec 2 Gain adjustment,

THAT'S IT. makes the tuning easy.
  44. GReddy Profec B Spec 2 Gain adjustment,

iirc, the gain is set real low. i thought the dual boost feature was useless. i just kept it on 18 lbs all the time. the thing works excellent, whatever level you set the boost at, it is right on. but it is a mofo to read. also, whatever crazy language the number system is in, i could never...
  45. safc tuning

hope this works, here is a link to mike jackson's guide to tuning with afc and logger:http://www.ca.dsm.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=16;t=000317#000000i think it is excellent. there is another, i forget which list, the guy was something like flubylx2, and his was very good, too.
  46. Expo trans? New source? Update: It fits.

bitchen article. almost makes me want to go out and get another vr4. almost.
  47. Inner CV boot

to remove the intermediate shaft, you dont need a vise. if you can get a prybar on it while it is on the car, you can snap it loose. if not, and you have the whole assemble removed, just hold it by the jackshaft, with the axle towards the ground, and whack the joint with a hammer. couple of...
  48. Inner CV boot

just change out the whole axle. changing the cv boots is really messy, and by the time they tear, the cv joint is probably worn out, too. reman axles are cheap, and way easier to change.
  49. nifty site - PocketLogger for Dummies

nice site. almost makes me wish i had another one. almosthttp://hywell.org/plhelp/data.html
