  1. FS: 91 GVR4 Summit White 1079/2000 White Plains, NY $5,500

Somewhat unrelated side note: 1078 (my 1st) was also Summit White. No sunroof, though.Ren
  2. Sold: 1987 Honda CRX Si Rally Car "Fireball" $2500, Norfolk, VA

Not that I know of. I bought it in like April 2002 and trailered it from Maine to Norfolk, where it was shipped to Iceland. It's been here since June 2003, when I cam back from Iceland.
  3. Sold: 1987 Honda CRX Si Rally Car "Fireball" $2500, Norfolk, VA

Honestly, it will take a lot of love to get this little guy back to race-ready condition, and, thanks to many Maine winters, would probably be a better organ donor than project car. However, he has proven to be a truly capable car, and in the hands of the right driver (my co-driver in Iceland...
  4. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

Sorry for the delay in responding. I replaced the grinding 1-2 tranny and used the newly fixed ClutchNet setup. (Unfortunately I replaced the tranny with one that grinds in 1 through 4 instead of just 1 and 2, but that's another story.)That fixed the problem for the most part. I was still...
  5. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

Apparently the problem was in the design of the clutch disc. I sent it back to ClutchNet and they fixed it:I called and the guy I spoke with (Russian or some other East European accent) said they replaced the spring housing with an open design. They must have used shorter spacer rivets...
  6. SOLD! 1991 GVR4 1078/2K Roller $1000 obo Norfolk, VA

Sorry, just sold it today to someone local.Ren
  7. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

Cables are all the same from 91-up, IIRC. I have a 90 trans in mine, so the cables needed to be shortened (or swapped for a set of 90 cables, of which I realized after the fact that I had TWO sets... d'oh!).The clutch pedal was adjusted correctly, and the pedal assembly was just rebuilt by...
  8. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

Well, I swapped out for the gently used Exedy stock clutch shown above, and the problem went away. There is still some grinding in 1st and 2nd, but that's more likely attributed to bad synchros; the reverse crunch is gone. I can get 1st and 2nd to not grind, if I give enough time for the gears...
  9. SOLD! 1991 GVR4 1078/2K Roller $1000 obo Norfolk, VA

New price. I'd really like to send this to a good home, but if no interest, it'll get parted out and crushed.Offers?
  10. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

I pulled the stock Exedy clutch from 1078 for comparison. The PP has almost the exact same dimensions, but the disc is different by a good amount. See pictures below:The major area of concern seems to be the distance between the surface of the rear spring cover plate to the...
  11. Anyone have a ClutchNet clutch set? (also 90 vs 91 shift cables)

This is in response to my thread in the Newbies section: clickCliff's notes:91 GVR4 90 Tranny 91 xfer case 91 shifter with modified 91 cables ClutchNet Red 2x PP and Kevlar discHaving problems shifting into 1st, 2nd, and reverse.OK, I replaced the clutch pedal assembly with...
  12. SOLD! 1991 GVR4 1078/2K Roller $1000 obo Norfolk, VA

I'm selling the car that introduced me to Galant VR-4's and this forum. 1078 was originally white, but got a paint job due to being rear-ended. The repair work was pretty good, meaning the panels are all straight but you can tell it's not original (as if the color wasn't enough of a giveaway)...
  13. 1st and 2nd gear grind

Well, after looking at 1078's trans, there's no need to shim the pivot ball, as the release fork is already in a better position.I called Shep, and the guy there said the GVR4 clutch pedal assemblies are unique, i.e. AWD DSM is not the same. I would assume they would know for sure, since they...
  14. 1st and 2nd gear grind

I just checked the pedal height, clevis free play, and pedal free play. They were all a little off. However, I adjusted everything back to factory specs, and I'm still having the same issues... 1st, 2nd, and reverse grinding. So, I went and adjusted the clutch master pushrod out as far as it...
  15. 1st and 2nd gear grind

Master and slave are brand new. I've watched the slave push on the release arm while someone else pushes the pedal, and everything seems to be working like it's supposed to.I don't have an adjustable slave rod.
  16. 1st and 2nd gear grind

Paul,Good to hear from you! Life gets in the way of things sometimes. I've been pretty busy with work, and really haven't been messin' with the Galants of late. I sold #1571 (white one with AMG bumpers) to my ex's son, and he's really happy with it. I've got a lot of time off work now (3...
  17. 1st and 2nd gear grind

I just finished (well, like 3 months ago) installing a new clutch (ClutchNet Red 2X PP with Fiber Carbon disc) in #224. I also had to swap out the tranny because I let a "friend" drive it. I had a few used spares in the garage, so I swapped in a 90 GSX tranny. I kept my 91 shifter and swapped...
  18. Alternative clutch master or slave cylinders?

Nothing? No one has heard of this?
  19. Alternative clutch master or slave cylinders?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there were some alternatives for our clutch hydraulics that would lessen the pedal effort for our cars; I thought it was from a 3S, but maybe not.I just got a new ClutchNet Red 2X PP and Kevlar disc for #224 (thanks Terry Posten for the recommendation...
  20. Stock route intercooler pipes?

Quoting Garfield Wright: Quoting turboren: I searched this, but couldn't seem to find it.... Wasn't there someone on the board here who made stock route hard IC pipes for our cars?RenFor about the same price you can upgrade the fmic & keep the piping if you're on a budget. It would be...
  21. Stock route intercooler pipes?

Actually, I think I found the name of the guy, but not sure if he is a member here... Dave Brode. As I recall, he made a whole pipe set for our cars for pretty cheap, but I can't seem to find it online. Anyone know if the kits are still available?

  23. 3k flat spot and 3-stage rev limiter issues with #224/2K

Here are some logs that I took when this occured. Maybe I'm just not that savvy with MMCd, but I don't see anything that stands out as something wrong:clickclickclickFrom what I can gather, this seems to happen between abnout 15% and 30% throttle.Anybody got any ideas...
  24. 3k flat spot and 3-stage rev limiter issues with #224/2K

Well, I just found out that I don't have NLTS on that chip anyway, which seems to make even less sense to me. Also discovered that my base fuel press is 40psi with the vac hose on, 44 with it off (fuel press solenoid still in use).
  25. 3k flat spot and 3-stage rev limiter issues with #224/2K

Turned up the boost and it just bogs at anything over 10psi. Turned it back down until this is fixed. I haven't made up that clutch wire yet, either. Can I just use some off-the-shelf diode for that? Doesn't look as though the one pictures in VFAQ is very big.
  26. 3k flat spot and 3-stage rev limiter issues with #224/2K

Cruise and wipers work as they should (well, cruise hunts somewhat, rather annoying), and I haven't noticed any bogging while coming to a stop. As I said earlier, though, the low rev limit thing doesn't happen all the time, and it actually hasn't happened at all in the past couple hundred miles...
  27. 3k flat spot and 3-stage rev limiter issues with #224/2K

Been a while since I've been on the board, but I've been pretty busy this summer workin on my cars. Anyway, I have a couple issues with #224 that I'd like to see if anyone can help with. First, the relevant specs:Blaha hacked 1g mas Big 16g (or evo3, can't remember offhand, and I'm not near...
  28. KuromuVR4

I hate to do this, but after repeated attempts to PM, e-mail, and call this guy, I haven't gotten any response.Rick last ordered a shirt from me in the fall of 2007. The shirts weren't ready in time for Christmas, but I did get them in early January 2008, and sent them out as I got payments...
  29. Wierd intermittent starter problem

I'll check out the wires and relay and get back with you guys. I understand how automotive electrical systems work, but that was a good write-up anyway. As to whether the replacement starter was rebuilt or used (definitely not new), I couldn't say, as it was done before I bought it.I can...
  30. Wierd intermittent starter problem

1571 has had this problem since I bought it, and after much searching and head scratching, I still haven't come any closer to a solution.Occasionally, the starter won't spin. When this happens, I do hear a click, and the clutch pedal is fully down. I have to perform the following to get it to...
  31. Jackstand Balling Crew...

I have two, at like $200 a piece (30x40), and it still leaks. Flat rooves suck!
  32. Jackstand Balling Crew...

It got so crowded in there that I can no longer use the other side of the garage to put a car in. It's a little better now, I'll have to take some pics. It doesn't help any that the roof leaks like a sieve on the side where 1078 was, and the land lord won't fix it, so 733 really is taking up...
  33. Jackstand Balling Crew...

733/2000 is in the left in the first pic. I bought her from a member in FL in Sep 2003. She's been sitting in my garage on stands since at least March of 2004. First pic is from July 2004. All the rest are from January this year. The garage is a little cleaner now, but she is still on stands. I...

  38. Agent 1051 in Modified Magazine

BTW, Mark, isn't your car in the September spot on this year's calendar? It looks black in the calendar, but it could just be because it's being taken at dusk. Otherwise it loos like it has to be your car, unless your car has a black doppelganger driving around out thereKind of ironic that it...

  44. evo3 16g = big 16g?

Sort of OT, but what other cars came with non-EVO3 big 16g's? For instance, would an EVO II have come stock with a big 16g?

  46. evo3 16g = big 16g?

  47. evo3 16g = big 16g?

I realize this has more than likely been covered before, but are the evo3 and "big" 16g one and the same?I couldn't find it by searching, but RRE seems to indicate that they are the same. However, some people selling them say, for instance, "big 16g but not evo3."Thanks for the help...
  48. Terry Posten

I'm glad we're in a community where honesty, integrity, and trust are the norm. Terry is no exception. After having one of my ECU's socketed, he informed me that the caps needed replacing. I told him to go ahead and do it, but I had to wait for a little bit to send the payment. He sent it to...
