so...

I know the front engine mount (steel bracket that bolts to engine) is different in the galant.

Edit:
I am going through the pile of spares in my garage and have some of these that have 344 marked on them and some that have 346 marked on them. Does anyone know which is which? One being specific for a AWD TEL and one for a AWD galant.

click me

Looks like the 344 is the Galant and the 346 is the TEL.

I also have some rear engine mounts (steel bracket that bolts to engine) with 195 and one with 194 stamped into it. I can see in my GGSX and the one I'm currently using has 195 stamped into it...but I'm not sure if thats the correct one or not...I pulled this motor out of a TEL and can't remember if I swapped the rear steel bracket or not. If I hold up the 195 and 194 brackets...I can barely tell a difference.

I can't see what the front bracket that is mounted in my GGSX currently is...

thanks
John

John, the 344 is for the E39. The 195 is rear for both the D27 and E39. A 346 and 194 fits a D22 FWD Turbo. D27 front one should be a 347.

E38s should use a 344 and a 195 also for manual trans cars.

HTH.

Well, a D22 is a 1g. I got some on a 93 1g turbo motor that I thought was from an AWD, turned out to have a bunch of different parts including the starter plate. Maybe you just had an engine?

That information is from CAPS, so I have to assume it is correct.

I have an auto ggsx and the original brackets on it are an 844 in front and a 793 on the back. Anyone know how these compare to the manual vr4 brackets? I have a spare set of 347, 195 from 92 tel but it doesn't seem like these fit as per posts above.

Of course I painted the wrong ones.

Update: comparison pics.

eclipse on left ggsx on right.

eclipse on top ggsx on bottom.

347 won't fit a VR4, it has to be the 344 bracket

This 844 will or wont work then? It cam out of this car, but I have manual trans now... Is drive shaft same length and are trans output shaft positions the same between auto and manual?

I'm using the auto brackets Listed below. everything fits and works but I'm getting some elevated drive train noise levels and I'd like to make sure these brackets aren't causing the issue. everything else seems in order and is operating properly.

Here are 1gawd and gvr4 part number comparisons:
------------------------------------------------
Subframe both -------------MB573544
Rear mount both -----------Mb436495
Rear bracket both ---------Md136195
Front mount both ----------MB436490
TRansmission bracket both - md731017
Front bracket vr4 ------------ Md133344
Front bracket 1g awd --------- Md133347
Driver bracket vr4 ----------- Mb436505
Driver bracket 1g awd -------- MB346741
Transmission v4r ------------- MB436541
Transmission 1g awd ---------- Mb436729

-------- E38A Galant Auto ---------
Front bracket ----------- MD143844
Front mount ------------- MB581635
Rear bracket ------------ MD143793
Rear Mount -------------- MB581640
Driver side bracket------ MB581650
Pasanger side ----------- MB581424

-------- E38A Galant Manual ---------
Front Bracket ----------- MD133344 (same as vr4)
Front Mount ------------- MB581656 (Due to aws?)
Back Bracket ------------ MD136195 (Same as vr4 and 1g awd)
Back Mount -------------- MB581657 (Due to aws?)
Driver Side Mount ------- MB436505 (Same as vr4)
Passenger Side Mount ---- MB436541 (Same as vr4)

So every number is different for my car /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I guess I found my Drive train noise.
