Battery Tie down and terminals

My battery has sat for a while without a tie down and I've noticed no ill effects. My car didn't come with one, so I'd like to know what you all use. I tried a rubber one and it dry rotted and broke then looked like crap.

Also, the aftermarket battery terminals I bought at autozone, although fully functional, are looking like crap since the paint just chips off every time I need to remove the battery for a repair.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I have the aftermarket plastic brackets for the tie-down and work perfectly. I relocated it to where the intake went and used the Kragen/O'Reily metal end terminals with no paint. No Oxidation or anything

I have no tie down. And I use the terminals that have the awesome quick release thing. So simple.
