Ok so I noticed that DSS offers a 3.5" driveshaft for the vr4 and they rate it at 650hp.

For the 90-94 T/E/Ls, they offer a 3" rated to 650hp and a 3.5" rated to 950hp.

Is this a mistake on their website or is something different about the GVR4 one?

I doesn't seem like it being slightly longer would call for it to need to be almost 20% thicker. I'm curious as I will need one eventually, but don't have plans for over 600hp.

Maybe the longer length of the GVR4 shaft degrades the strength rating? Call them and ask...

Or the heavier vehicle weight, or both...

Frank at DSS replied to my email.

"Hi
it will handle more but the output yoke on the shaft will twist, the only way to make it better
would be to put a Shepard transfer case into it "

and a noob somewhat related question...

If i were to convert to automatic... Is there a different transfer case or do I use the same one?

The Auto Tcase is vastly different.
