Wiper Arms - Two Questions

Recently painted the wiper cowl trim, its screws, along with polishing the plastic washers...painted the wiper arms at the same time, using the same color, which is the "bumper trim and paint" rattle can. Came out pretty nice, least the cowl trim and one of the arms. The second arm strangely was still a little tacky after 2 weeks. Have painted many things over many years and never had this happen before. Basically have to sand them and repaint again. As I was doing so, came to the realization they are probably too shiny...not a gloss black, same time not close to flat either.
  • Question #1: Are the factory arms supposed to flat black? Can see the underside and it appears so, just can't recall if the exposed portions you see were same shade though. Not looking for concours resto match, only it would be nice to have them close to what they are supposed to be.
  • Question #2: The winglet (not sure the term) that attaches to the wiper...is that supposed to be on the driver's side only, or also the passenger side? Asking because both wiper arms have the accommodation to have one but mine only has the driver side.

I believe flatblack is correct. The wing only came on the driver side. From the factory, I don't believe the passenger side was drilled and tapped for the little wing. The arms are the same shape though, so it is easy to have a passenger side arm with the holes.

Thanks for the info...good to know I'm not missing the passenger side wing (since it didn't come like that).

However, the arms are different from driver's to passenger's side, least on mine. They both have the rubber insert for the wing but seems like only the driver's side is threaded but there are the same holes. Weird they did that, although thinking because Japan and say England and Australia drive on the opposite side and on those, they have the wing on our passenger/their driver side. Just a guess.

Here's what mine look like right now, passenger @ top and driver @ bottom. You can see the rubber insert at the 'top' of each wiper in this pic...both have two holes that match the wing spacing, only the driver's side appears to be threaded. Probably could thread the passenger side with the screws but not going to do that if only one side was stock.

Started sanding them down, going to go with flat black this time.

WHere you got the arms... i need a pair

They're my original arms, or least they were on the car when it was purchased 20+ years ago (yikes to that thought, lol)...If you're looking for some, probably want to check the junkyards or ebay, etc. Would imagine all Galants of this era have same arms, maybe only some come with the wing, or all. Not sure on that part.

I did flat black this past summer and it looks correct. Oddly, only one of mine was faded and corroding so I did it first, saw it matched the other pretty well and then did the other for good measure.

I'm pretty sure I just used Rustoleum pro flat black.
