What does this part do?

What does the Auto compressor control unit do? It lives behind the glove box on the HVAC housing.

From what I can tell in the manual it checks for certain conditions before allowing output voltage to go to the A/C compressor. It reads voltage from the air inlet, air thermo, and refrigerant temp. sensors.

Had looked all over the compressor and controls sections of the a/c and didn't find it. Finally went page by page and found it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
