The turbo has a lot of potential but dont base your opinion on what turbo to get off of what a shop built car with the funds to max the turbo out.

Also, Buschur is an ass.

Oh, and I love FP turbo's and thats is a mighty fine turbo that wont let you down.

I'm not a Buschur fan, either, but I respect what he has done and is capable of.

You can make a lot of power without going overboard with the budget, just buy the right parts the first time. Don't buy 1200cc injectors if you want to run high boost on ethanol, don't buy a mild 264 camshaft if you plan on making good power up top, don't buy a Supra fuel pump when you know you'll need more. Sure, it might cost you a bit more up front but will save you a ton in the long run when the right parts keep you motor happy and you don't have to buy twice.

Also been hearing of the holset swaps, those worth doing?

Im planning on going with a Holset heres a few links that have a little more info on them click click click Heres a video of a Hx35 Twin scroll in action but mainfolds are pricey click

As for keeping the AC I wouldn’t know but I’m sure it would be possible with the BEP housing would be nice to keep it since summer time gets ridiculously hot out here and leather seats don’t help out except when you get out your car and your back is all sweaty and that little breeze hits you kind of cools you off <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rofl.gif" alt="" /> .

If you are pushing a Holset, it might not last too long. There were a couple kids local running 40's until the exhaust wheels nuked. They weren't designed for the EGT's a gas engine will reach, that and spinning to 35-36psi. If you are staying sub-30psi, then they seem to be great! That 40pro spooled crazy fast for the 600whp it put down.

Do you know what housing that 40Pro was using and by what rpm full spool come on? And if I go the Holset route i doubt ill ever see 30psi since I'm on stock 2g pistons.

He ran the BEP bolt-on for 1 or 2 turbo's. Then swapped to the .70 T3 housing for the last turbo or 2. He was seeing 30psi by high 3k RPM with the bolt-on, and low-mid 4k with the open T3.

With the new HTA technology, there is almost no point in buying a new 3052. The DSM76 is the same turbo except with the billet (HTA) compressor wheel. Garrett followed this up with the GTX series turbo. The DSM76 was around long before the GTX, whichever one is better is still up in the air. The DSM76 IS the 3052 on steroids.

I agree with this guy 100%. That's pretty much the hot new version of the 3052/3076r.

Slowboy is not a company i would recommend giving money to, under any circumstances.

A Civic 3 row radiator, even with a slim fan makes it hard to put a decent intake pipe on the turbo. It *WILL* be tight. Very tight. If you want to get a different radiator, and free up some room, you may want to go with a Scirocco style race radiator. They're a lot more expensive, but have been proven to work quite well.

Pretty sure FP doesn't even offer the 3052/3065 any more.

^ FP doesn't sell those turbos anymore and the whole HX-40 thing is true first time I launched in first gear on 28 psi turbine wheel ate the BEP housing. There was no exhaust wheel left. I've heard that the the HX-35 last longer there's something local people still running them. Another buddy of mine killed an HX-40 I think his name is redrum97 on tuners. I wasted a lot of time and money with the holset, they also run hotter because there not water cooled. Prepare for increased under hood temps this last summer in California was killer. I got gizmo's fp3065 and love it, this is my second fp turbo my first was an fp18g.

I would advise FP or a Garrett turbo and never look back.

See sig for what off the shelf 3052 can do. I built and tuned the car my self. So it does not take a big name shop to make power on a 30r based turbo.

Brian's car was stupid for a street car... it was perfect. Lots of torque (480 or so), full boost at 3600 RPM, and 561awhp. Lots of memories of that car and I only rode in it a handful of times.

Well my buddy had problems with his borg warner/schwitzer back months ago. A little to much play than I liked. Called up the guys he bought it from back last winter, mailed it in and a few days later and called him up and said they have him covered and the new unit will be here in a few days. They didn't rebuild it but sent him a new center section and turbine housing along with the old compressor housing back that we had an elbow welded on. Plus getting a new extended tip unit got new gaskets and a handful of stickers. Sometimes great warranties and killer customer service helps when picking out high dollar units.

Besides that they told him to go by a local caterpillar dealer and buy an oil sample kit and mail it in and they will tell him everything thats happening in the engine.

Not saying you'll never have to buy a new turbo again but these guys truly kick ass and if I ever buy one new I'll be contacting Mike Franke in Tampa. They're one of the few master distributors of borg warner turbo's in the country and prices are about half of what bullseye and others charge for the same unit.
