Tow Hitch Idea.

So I don't think any one makes a trailer hitch for our cars, but I had an idea.
Basically my plan is to make a hitch that would bolt in between the two rear tow hooks. Now I'm not thinking this would tow much. Just a small utility trailer with a few bikes, or kayaks maybe some yard trimmings. So max tow weight under 400 lbs, and a tow weight of even less. I mean the tow hooks have to be designed to handle a few thousand pounds each so if it's bolted up right it should be safe.
Basically it would bolt in like one of those sweet JDM TYTE YO tow hook extensions.with a bracket plate on each end of the bar and a plate on the outside as well.

SO does this sounds like a terrible idea to you? Also I'f I'm an idiot and there is something in the way of this working I apologise. Unfortunately my car is 40 minutes away from me right now so I was picturing this from memory.

For the love of God, please don't put one of those on your car.

Also, read that thread, make friends with a welder. Done.

He said it would bolt in "like" one of these so I don't think he was actually planning to use one. James basically did the same in his write-up but he used angle instead.

Ah, maybe I mis-read that. If that's the case, the original hitch that used to be sold for these, bolted through the slots in the tow hooks. So yes, something like that would be possible. click
