If I want to use this ECU in my car, can I replace the chip it comes with with the DSMLink chip and will it work? Or will there need to be some wiring mods?
The JDM has several difference in the jumpering internally. If you put a USDM chip in it (DSMLink included) you will get a fuelpump relay error, since the JDM jumpers don't provide a path for the MFI power feedback. Here are the notes I have on the conversion from my support Forum:
1. Remove IC102 by wiggling it back and forth until it snaps off the board. That is an extra vertical board that the US code doesn't use.
2. Install J101
3. Remove J102
4. Install J103
5. Install J104
6. Install J105
Thanks for the answer. I tried to register for your forums, but it keeps telling me my email address is banned. I guess it doesn't matter anyway as I didn't win the ebay auction.
I had to ban all gmail, due to an onslaught of Albania porn spammers. It appears that anyone can get a gmail address. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif
