Opened Wastegate

Well i opened up an old wastegate that was bad, i dont know if anyone else here has done so but here is a picture of what inside for you.



Obviously the spring went crazy, and you cant tell from the picture but the diaphram was blown too.

 

what symptoms were you having to make you do this? just wondering

 

well this actually came off a friends car and the turbo was blown, also when you manually moved the spring it made horrrible scraping sounds wich led me to test the diaphram VIA blowing into the wastegate(only with my mouth) and noticing that the air did not stop at all.
