I built a tool once that was a junk harmonic balancer and a piece of 1" x 1/2" x 24" long steel stock and welded it on to the harmonic balancer so to hold the motor from turning. That has help me many times to get the damn things loose. Now I just have a 3/4 inch impact gun from harbor freight that cost me about $80 and I've yet run into a bolt it cant budge.
at the moment i gave up. starter bump as per vfaq and turbowop's explanation.
using socket and breaker bar, i snug the breaker bar on to the bolt and rest it snug on top of the control arm.
i even used a jumper cable to another car(this car was running) to make sure the battery is good and the starter is getting full voltage. no luck.
i have it soaking with wd-40 at the moment. next time i will try heating the bolt by welding into it. i don't want to use a torch.
The torch will do it, your going to replace the seal behined the sprocket anyway if you plan to take the front case off and do the balance shafts.
Dont hesitate with the use of that impact after the bolt is cherry red, she will come out. good luck
