junkyard block rebuild


picking up a junkyard block. I need my car to run soon as I may be moving back to NC. Aside from new bearings and rings, what other things should I be mortaly worried about? It will probably be non-turbo block as they seem to be easier to come by in good shape.

I'd make sure to put a new oil pump in it, and remove the balance shafts. New water pump, new gaskets, and find a good spot for the knock sensor. :)
 

Oil pump, main seals, if you can still see the hash marks from the hone job it got from the factory. Check the bore for roundness and see if its tapered.
