That is seriously something someone NEW to car wrenching would say lol.

I've been overhauling a wet gas compressor (roughly same size as a GVR4) at the refinery all month lol, changing aircraft engines is a thing in the past for me now lol.

Gotta start somewhere. I'm just happy to see him taking up some interest in doing some of his own maintenance at least. Good job, Mike.

So, since your car runs on E85, don't you have to use corn based motor oil? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah I just felt proud to do the oil change myself since the new setup and getting tuned and all. it was kinda hard though due to all the tight clearances with the newly fabbed down pipe and wastegate dump tube, but Mike@FIST designed it to where all that doesn't need to come off now. Before it had to, so I'm a happy camper. That and I had 2 hours before going into work at Oreillys so I took advantage of the being able to dump the oil at the store haha.

Last I saw it looked like one of those Bullfab bars went right underneath the drain bolt. Did you have to remove that bar to drain the oil?

Yes, I had to unbolt one of the ends, then I just tied it to the side to keep it out of the way from getting in the oil drain path. It was a 14 mm holding the bar, and a 24mm for the drain bolt.

What's the bullfab bar for?

I bet you could get one of those drain plug bolts with the lever and spout on it to aim the oil drain away from your bar perhaps?

Bar is for less weight and more space. It just takes a second to remove one end of the bar to get out of the way of the drain plug, no need to change the type of drain plug.

Yeah I'm using a mishimoto magnetic drain plug, it's larger.

More space under there but you need to remove a piece in order to change the oil? Sounds contradictory.

The extra space is provided by the front bar, and was needed to make room for the turbo. Since it's a street car, he bought the NS bars as well. 30 seconds to undo a bolt for an oil change, is a fair trade off when making room for a larger framed turbo.

Cliff notes: you guys are dicks /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
