Frame rail mount for transmission

Lightweight crank pulley, aluminum center, harder durometer damper and a single belt guide.

I get the oval for clearance, but why does it have to be divided? If it goes in undivided and goes out undivided, then why divide it in the middle?

Maybe their is an issue with the way the exhaust flows/ pulses through an oval shape?

guys I think it's to keep it from getting crushed. It adds a lot of stiffness. (not positive about that though) It's so far back in the stream that dividing the exhaust pulses for a short distance wouldn't do anything.

Strength makes sense. If they were worried about hitting things so much they made it as thin as possible, then I'm sure they were really concerned about hitting stuff.
