I've removed my Galant and DOHC badges (using dental floss pulled through the adhesive). With some careful picking and Goof-Off I removed all of the material off the trunklid, but even though I can't feel anything left, there is still a little haze left. It might be slightly tacky and perhaps attracting dust. What should I do to remove this? A little rubbing compound and a cloth or is there a secret trick?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan,

I used Mineral Spirits and just rubbed off whatever adhesive was on there. Didnt hurt the paint at all.

What he said...at work we use something called Pro-Sol,basically a clear solvent that wont harm the paint. You spray some on the area, let it soak in for a second, and rub with cloth. You can wax the area after if it is dull.

maybe i should debadge my car too. the shiny silver film is peeling off. i'll sleep on it.

I took some dealer emblem off my deck lid when I first bought the car. I got all the goo off with something like Pro-Sol, but there remained an image of the emblem on the paint due to fading. Buffed it with compound to no avail. So I painted the car blue.

I just finished this mini project today after seeing this post. I had this goo left over also, so i went down to buy some mineral spirits but they didn't have a small enough container. I found some stuff right next to the spirits called Goo-Off (who would have guessed). This stuff worked well. Everything looks nice now.

Alright then, I guess I'll just keep on it. Ken, the stuff you bought, is it made from Orange oil?

I just went out to go look at it and it doesnt say anything except for Warnings all over the can. Its made by a company called Klean-Strip if that helps at all.

The only reason I did it this way is because my dad suggested it a long time ago on my first car and it worked well.

Guys - dont use the Goo-off in a yellow can in large quantities. That stuff is wicked and will start to take your paint off. I accidentally left a rag of goo-off and when I picked the rag up after half hour a lot of paint came up with it, this was on an old beater celica of mine. It also desttroys plastic...eats thru. I destroyed a screwdriver handle the same way as above

To debadge: First, I use the floss and heatgun. Then, I bust out the rubber eraser wheel for the drill to remove the remaining glue. Finally, some wax and elbow grease. If the emlems have been on the car long and there is sun fade, you will see the outlines. A buffer can be used to try and buff it out.

Hope this helps!

When I pulled mine off, it left some residue that I was never able to remove and I tried everything. Going to get it sanded and painted when I get my holes filled(sounds like porn) for my spoiler. Then I will install my JDM badges and hope to hell that no punk ass kids steal them.

Use some WD-40, just make sure to wash and wax that area after you are done.. Then use some cutter wax, and buff it out... Here is a pic of the badge I took off my last car..(Acura Legend), I took off a badge that said Acura and it was direclty above the left tail light...
