Will a 7 bolt head fit on a 6 bolt block... I took my head to the machine shop they said its been milled to many times and as it sits it was past spec already. The reason I'm asking is tre seems to be a lot of 2 g heads for sale..if u have one let me know..

Quoting Steve001:
I just found a thread on this and it's a sh*t ton of work. Ill find a 1g head

You talking a 1g 7 bolt head or 2g head?

1g 7 bolt head is litterally just running a bit to slightly enlarge the 2 center bolt holes in the head. That's it.

Also the intake ports on a 2G head is smaller in height so you'll need an intake as well. Hit the junkyard and start lifting Hyundai hoods until you find one...As long as its stamped 2.0 on the passenger side your good except turbo valves are supposedly better design and the cc volume on the chambers maybe smaller which will bump the comp numbers up. Do some google searches and you'll find all the info you need.

Also evo valves can be used or you can order new valves from ebay as well as guides lifters etc. Someone started a thread about valves a few weeks ago.

just need to do the oil port mod, and enlarge the headstud bolts to i believe a 12mm..If you get on youtube and search for Jafromobile he has a video of him doing the oil port mod so he can put the 7bolt on the 6bolt. Plus anything else of a 4g63t That guy can do, great videos from him.

You can use an NA head as long as you put in new valves and swap in turbo cams..... There should be plenty out there....

Oh hey, I got one /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Why do you need to change the valves in a NT head?

I think they are a weaker material. Not sure, never looked to see if Mitsu shows a different PN.

Either way I always like to spend a little more and replace the valves and guides anyway. Better fit, better compression.

I just get the valves and seats lapped. Only replace if bent or damaged. Only valves that are any real difference are the Evo exhaust valves. My last head rebuild I used a bunch of new valves I had from a 2.4L Kia Optima motor when I used to work at the dealer.
