2g swap question

I know this should go over in the dsmtuner forum but I dont like them, they scare me...lol. I may be picking up a 2g Eclipse GSX automatic. I was wondering how much work it would be to swap the trans to a 5spd. Thanks for any info you have!!!

Really?!?! So I can do a nice Evo 3 setup and have no problems with the trans? Thats pretty interesting.

I'm 7 year 2g DSM guy here to help you! LoL! To do the 5-speed swap, off the top of my head, here's what I know for sure.

List:
Trans/clutch/flywheel/shifter cables
Slave/master cylinder (Dremel hole in firewall for master) Removing the dash makes it easier
Manual axles/intermediate shaft/carrier bearing
Manual t-case/rear-end w/ rear axles
Shifter base/shifter/knob!

Be different, stay auto. In the long run, a 5 speed will be cheaper to maintain and may be "more fun to drive" but with a torque converter, shift kit, and an end clutch kit... those automatic can really put down the power and get you some good times!

Yeah I am starting to think that I'll stick with the auto. It's going to be my DD while I continue with the Galant. Thanks again for the info. As always you guys are on top of it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worthy.gif
