2.4 DOHC timing cover

I am asking on behalf of a friend, who has completed a full build on a 6 bolt 2.4 w/ the 2.0 DOHC head. He says a 2.0 cover won't line up right, and the 7 bolt 4g64 DOHC cover won't either. Aside from hacking up one or the other to "make" it fit, are there any other options out there? Thanks.

If he is talking about the upper head metal brackets not lining up, then he needs to redrill them to suit the timing cover.

He'll end up with a slight gap between the timing belt upper and lower covers due to the taller block.

Nothing else he can really do!

His builder had a few good 4g63 covers laying around, so they decided to cut two of them in half. They accounted for the extra 2mm deck height by making the cut exactly 2mm different on each cover. They took the bigger halves and bolted them up to check fitment, and now the builder is trying to fiberglass the two back together. They aren't sure how it is going to work, if it is going to work, but they're trying.

That was my suggestion, but he really wants every bolt in this thing, and in his words, "that won't get the center bolt (for the head) to line up.". Depending on how his split cover works out, he may end up still doing that.
