  1. FS: Gauge interest group buy Front air diverter

I'll be interested in one as well. My crusty old radiator needs all the help it can get. Plus, I'm still running a/c and a '90 oil cooler, so I could really use this...
  2. Another Idle Diag thread!

The idle switch is a simple on/ off switch. It either completes the ground or it doesn't, making it easy to test. Check to see if the switch itself is sticking, keeping the throttle from closing all the way. I've seen this happen before.
  3. Headlights Problem

The part number is MB629712, and it is for the turn signal and wiper stalk assembly. You do have to take off the steering wheel.
  4. stock fpr part number

Sorry, I looked it up wrong... The automatic turbo 1g part number is MD165859.As far as the number on the regulator itself, I don't know how to tell the difference. Your best bet may be either an aftermarket regulator, or finding a regulator where you know exactly what car it came from...
  5. stock fpr part number

The OE part number is MD124647. It's the same on all turbo 1g's and GVR4's.For reference, the non-turbo regulator is MD124334.
  6. A/C wiring questions.

^^^ +1If you're going to all of the trouble of replacing the compressor, you gotta do it right. The results will be very worthwhile.
  7. A/C wiring questions.

You ought to be able to jump the compressor relay to see if the compressor kicks on. If that doesn't work, I'd say the compressor clutch is bad....Something else worth checking: There is also a sensor on the evaporator, used to turn off the compressor if the evaporator is freezing over... This...
  8. Where is the 20g turbo from?

That's going on my lawn tractor.
  9. Boost

I agree 100%. Supporting mods are a must before you do anything. There's only so much that 20 year old wiring and components will handle before they fail.Might I suggest this thread gets moved to the Newbie section?
  10. lets talk balance shafts for a second.

Quoting AMS: In our experience, replacing the front balance shaft with a stub shaft will increase the chances of oil pump failures. The stub shaft in question is an OE part from a 4G61. That engine, from the factory, has this setup. What I don't like about the AMS shaft is that there is still...
  11. laser webs on BG

Looks great as stock silver on a green car! It just didn't look right on my black car, so I powder coated them black. I've been running these wheels for years and have had nothing but compliments.
  12. wtf this part????

That "float arm" is the actuator arm for the cyclone. If it's leaking from the actuator the diaphragm may be bad. Cyclone manifolds do not have EGR valves.
  13. Valve Cover options

There are two styles of Hyundai valve covers:This style...And this style...I'm not sure which ones came from which models.
  14. Squiters

The part number is MB529511, $14.32 each, and there are only 8 left in the country (you'll need 2, obviously). Just call Paul here at JNZ Tuning if you would like to order them!JNZ Tuning 215-997-6850
  15. Delete power steering pulley on water pump

Quote: ...buy one from a engine that didn't have balance shafts. I think its a 1.6 but don't quote me on that. You are correct, sir. It is from the Mirage with the 1.6L. The part number is MD128107.
  16. Starting on 3 cylinders

It sounds like it could be the lifter(s) in the affected cylinder- it bleeds down when you shut the car off, and it takes a few seconds for them to pump back up when you start the car.
  17. Valve Color - orig oem red shade?

Quoting JNR: Was it JNZ (?) that used to do that here? I tried contacting him/then sometime ago and never got a response and it seemed they stopped doing that?We still do powdercoating!I chose a wrinkle red for mine- i think it turned out pretty nice.
  18. Strange starting issue. Intermittently misfiring and dying on startup.

Quoting gramkrakr89: Mine used to do that a lot, but in ECMlink V3, I have enabled something called "hot start enrichment"... it doesn't do it nearly as much anymore...Along those lines, do you still have the fuel pressure solenoid hooked up? It is the solenoid in the back corner of the...
  19. Snow tire size?

Hey, I'm ASE certified too......with experience...Skinny tires are way better in the snow. To the OP, if you're running stock wheels, I'd recommend 185/65R15. I also agree with turbowop. Either way, just stay as skinny as possible, and you should like the results.
  20. Losing power after 20% throttle

It sounds like a clogged exhaust to me... either a clogged cat, muffler, or collapsed flex section.
  21. How to fix a sloppy shifter?

The part number is MB307949. It'll cost you 71 cents at JNZ.
  22. How to fix a sloppy shifter?

The roller skate bearings will rust and seize eventually- I would not recommend using them. JNZ sells a shifter cable bushing kit that's far easier to install, and uninstall, if necessary. JNZ also sells the Symborski Shifter bushing kit, as well as a short throw shifter if you're interested...
  23. FS: Cyclone manifold, NEW *RARE* OEM gaskets

Used Cyclone intake manifold, pulled from a JDM 4G63T.This manifold has been disassembled, cleaned, and is ready to put together and bolt on to the car. You have the choice of having the manifold shipped assembled or disassembled (some people may want it disassembled to port the runners...
  24. Eco switch

Quoting thedsmguy: I'm interested in knowing what everyone has used there pwr/econ switches for...Thanks.I have a solenoid that bypasses the boost controller. In Economy, I'm seeing about 14 to 15 lbs boost. In Power, I'm up to 27 lbs boost.Additionally, I also have the switch wired...
  25. What happened to 951/1000?

This car is at JNZ Tuning right now...
  26. engine hiccups under load

... maybe the caps were leaking in the original ECU?I had a similar problem. And even though you fixed your problem, I'd like to share in case others look at this thread for answers for their own problems. My plug wires were bad, and although they looked fine when I inspected them, they would...

  28. Mark Irwin's 92 VR4 656/ 1000

I've been really busy this past year getting things done to the car. The main things have been the front mount, the cyclone manifold, the evo3 16g, and dsm link, as well as some powdercoating, and some small stuff. I edited my first post to reflect the new mod list. It's been too cold and salty...
  29. Discussion on caster

You could still adjust camber with an eccentric bolt between the strut and the spindle. I don't know if there's an advantage to using eccentric bolts over a camber plate. If the difference is negligable, a combo of eccentric bolt for camber and DSM camber plate used for caster would be a pretty...
  30. Discussion on caster

Theoretically, if you used a DSM camber plate on a GVR4 (ie. turned 90*), caster would be adjustable. Has anyone tried this?
  31. ThreeSpeed meet

Just so you guys know, I'm definitely in for a meet, whenever it may be. But since we're talking spring already, why not set up a date now, so everyone has months to plan ahead.
  32. vr4 thermostat housing same as 1g dsm?

The a/c compressor is different, in case you were wondering
  33. carriers?

JNZ Tuning can get them for you.
  34. still hesitation after 4k

I wonder if your rear balance shaft was out of phase 180*. When that happened to me, the motor ran like crap above 4k.
  35. ACT FTW.......not so much

So I'm resurrecting this thread because my pressure plate broke again. I'm not sure as to the extent, but it was very loud, and difficult to get into gear. When I peeked through the clutch fork boot, I could see at least one finger broken off. If you take a look at my posts from above, this is...
  36. Spotted! white GVR4 IN the junkyard :-(

Quoting Diego: Go back and get the driver dogleg for me will, I'm in desperate need of that. Oh and the passenger rear dogleg the little piece that goes to the end of the sideskirt, thank you pm me for my shipping info if you will do so.DiegoThat junkyard is almost 2 hours from where...
  37. Spotted! white GVR4 IN the junkyard :-(

At the E-Z Pull & Save in New Ringgold, PA, i found a poor 91 just sitting there. By the looks of it, this car was never modified. I'm thinking the previous owner never knew what it really was. I found stock i/c tubing, stock shift boot, stock exhaust, stock suspension, etc. I believe the front...
  38. Nice day for a photo shoot of the toys

What motor is that in the Mini? Nice toys, btw. Very eclectic group of cars!
  39. Here we go again...

I got $1700 from Allstate for my stupid POS Talon, after a 17 year old girl turned left INTO me in daddy's GMC Envoy. If that car wasn't totalled, I can't imagine yours would be. Good luck to you! BTW, the car didn't look too bad in those pictures!
  40. Any other 5th gear options?

Isn't the GGSX 5th gear an option? I heard it is longer.
  41. Aim for a quiet exhaust...

I fully agree with wanting a quiet, high flowing exhaust. I like the idea of always having that extra power whenever I want it (no cutout for me), but I don't want to have to worry about being hastled for a loud exhaust. Highway drone is a pain, too.I'm planning a "quiet" 3" exhaust, too. I am...
  42. brakes staying engaged

If you were to open the front bleader valves and release the pressure, would the brakes free up? When you changed the pads, did the pistons push in ok?I wonder if the brake fluid got too hot when you were racing, and a seal inside the master cylinder ruptured, or the front hoses swelled to...
  43. ACT FTW.......not so much

This was my last 2600 lb pressure plate.ACT replaced it for free and covered the resulting damage to the bell housing. My new 2600 lb clutch, with only 3k miles, is getting soft. Somehow while driving one day, the pedal effort went really soft. It's been that way for a few months now, but the...
  44. Transmissions Input Shaft Working Length

Is there still the steel shim plate between the engine and the trans? If that's missing or broken, that could be your problem.
  45. 2010 GVR4 Calendar *Pics Added* **Calendars Shipped**

...now I can update my sig...Oh, I really like the photo for November, with the road closed- very nice!
  46. 2010 GVR4 Calendar *Pics Added* **Calendars Shipped**

How about some teaser pics?... Now I'm quite curious if my car made the calendar! Either way, I'll be wanting one.
  47. Advice: Transmission related vibrations

If you can, you should try to drain the oil out of the trans and look for metal. This may give you a pretty good clue as to where you need to look. I'm guessing the problem may be the input shaft bearing, although I wouldn't rule out a clutch problem. I had a pressure plate finger break off a...
