1. Best Place to Source Quality Brakes

Thanks for the heads up. I was on Rockauto.com but only checking rotor and pad kits. Waaaaay more options under individual parts. Thanks again.
2. Best Place to Source Quality Brakes

Hey guys, Just looking for a reputable vendor/place to purchase a full brake kit for the Galant. Nothing crazy...stock fitment...slotted is fine. Looking for EBC/Stoptech. Spirited driving maybe light track work will be as much as the car sees at stock power levels.Looking all over and I can...
3. Back into the Scene with 886/1000

I assumed Rockauto wouldn't have 'em...but you were spot on. Solid price too. Thanks for the advice on that one.
4. Back into the Scene with 886/1000

Finally got around to starting this project. The first objective was boost leaking the car to to see if a vacuum leak may be causing the idle surge. Sure enough the BISS was blowing bubbles like no one's business. Removed the screw to find no o-ring in place...hmmmmm...Of course I then removed...

Quoting iceman69510: Nice. Good luck with it.I still miss my green one every so often.Thanks. I wasn't too color picky on this...but Summit White and Belize Green are my favorite color options.

11. FS: 1992 Galant VR4 (141/1000) - New Built Engine + Tranny $6,000 ***Sold***

You are probably spot on. It's highly modified though (I don't think that as being a negative) but the stock-ish ones are pulling more coin. That being said...I'm very well aware that I'm letting this go as a steal. I'm sure a solid shop will easily get it tuned and all...and if I don't get my...

18. FS: 1992 Galant VR4 (141/1000) - New Built Engine + Tranny $6,000 ***Sold***

Up for sale is my 1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. It is number 141 of 1000. This car is in very good condition and has been upgraded with only the top of the line parts. A little background on the car is that I purchased it in 2007 from Sam, one of the old moderators here on the .org in the...
19. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Just realized that as I was re-reading it. Yes...just testing the CAS.
20. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

No boost leaks...still not able to hold an idle. I'm going to test the Cam Angle Sensor next. Timing marks are all lined up. I'm really grasping at straws at this point.-No Leaks (vac or fluids) -Spark, air, and fuel are all getting there -timing looks goodGoing to test the Camshaft...
21. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

I'm at a loss here. I tested the resistance of the ISC again...and everything was 30 as it should be. I'm stumped.
22. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Thanks for the reply. That screen grab is at idle (at least until it dies) with no throttle input. Is there a better way to post the log on here?
23. 1721/2000 Returns, beaten.

That really sucks man, sorry to see this. At least the wheel didn't catch air and aim squarely for your windshield before striking you. Still, sucks a ton. Glad to see you made it out okay.
24. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Quoting pot: It could be the BISS screw O-ring or the Shaft Seals causing the leak as well to include the intake manifold gasket. Just something to consider........The usual suspects for sure. I paid extra attention to these spots and there wasn't even a hiss to be heard.
25. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

It appears AFR and Timing are jumping all over the place is these idle logs.
26. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Car cranks right up. Hangs a high idle for a moment (about 3k RPM) and then settles around about 800 RPM where it runs really rough and ultimately dies out with a whining fuel pump. Did this multiple times and the same outcome each time.-No boost leaks -No fluid leaks -Everything is connected...
27. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Never mind...did some research and apparently that is there by design (which was what I was hoping for). Time to double check all fluids, button everything up, and attempt to fire her up.
28. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

This guy is spitting. Not at the vac line but at the little hole in the vac line nipple.
29. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Replaced TB to IM and TB to elbow gaskets with Mitsu OEM and boost leak is gone...that boost leak anyhow. I now have air escaping my Hallman MBC at the little hole where the vac line attaches. Is this normal?
30. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

No running log simply because I’ve been unable to keep the car actually running.
31. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Quoting Eztoril: When you are ready to install the new gasket I would def make sure that both surfaces are nice, clean and flat. Looks like dirt or pitting on the IM side. Maybe one of your bolts wasnt all the way tight or something? Just guessing how you could have had such a big leak...
32. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Took the throttle body off and really can’t see a source of the large leak. The gasket from TB to IM seemed solid and only tore a little on removal. There was some discoloration on the lower IM opening. At a loss here. I could very much feel a considerable amount of air rushing out under the TB...
33. WTB: 428 or 399 MAF

Disregard, acquired a replacement and found it not to be the problem.
34. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

I love you guys. Did a boost leak test and found a massive leak...more whoosh than hiss. Used a length of silicon hose to pinpoint the location to right underneath the throttle body. System wouldn’t even hold any pressure. Pulling TB next for inspection. Thanks for everyone’s advice so far.
35. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

I tried swapping the coolant temp sensor wires, and nothing changed. Put them back to the way I had them as that must have been correct. On to boost leak testing...
36. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Quoting transparentdsm: Quoting Chad989of2000: That totally skipped my mind. The wiring looks solid, but the sensor may be original. Will test when I can carve out some garage time.so you see how there are two wires that are the same color and tracer.... try switching them around. i have...
37. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Quoting gvr4ever:
Went back and browsed the thread. Run a boost leak test. I didn't see that it was done. It's basic, but run a new one even if you did one some time ago.

That’s actiually a good...
38. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Tried another working MAF with no luck. I’m stumped.
39. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Abridged Recap: -New built motor and trans install -Car started hard (really long and multiple cranks to get going) -Car Sat for 2 years -Replace all fuel components and changed from E85 to pumpCurrent Status: -Fuel pressure is good, spark is good, freshly cleaned injectors (FIC) -Car starts...
40. WTB: 428 or 399 MAF

Hi Guys, Looking to pick up a functioning 428 or 399 MAF to replace the unit currently in my Galant. PM me if you have a fully functional MAF and how much you are willing to part with it for. Thanks in advance.
41. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Do the EVO MAFs use the same connecting harness as the 482 MAFs? Looks like I have to source another MAF to test.
42. Image upload problem?

Confirmed, same is happening for me too.
43. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Screen grab of cranking with no start in ECMLink.
44. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Disregard the timing number...it displayed 5 degrees once the car was cranked.I'm thinking TPS and Coolant Temp Sensor are good. I'm going to look to test the MAF next. Everything else is checking out fine.
45. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

Coolant Temp looks good in ECMLink. Wiring also looks good. Does the Timing value look odd?
46. Car Starts but Stalls Immediately after Built Engine Install

That totally skipped my mind. The wiring looks solid, but the sensor may be original. Will test when I can carve out some garage time.
