They are called PROTONS here in AUS.
They are a MALAYSIAN made car.

They used MITSU parts.

Basically that PROTON has an evo front end (they pretty much bolt on).
The engine bolts in (mounts are the same).
They come with 4g93's from the factory I believe.
Lots of 4g63 conversions.

Do a search on youtube on PROTON SATRIA 4g63.

They are FWD though. But the evo floor pan fits (weld on).

^^All the ones I can find are hatchbacks...
so the bed and rear are custom built or what?

I came up with the result so I tried googling "Proton truck" and got the Proton Arena

Sorry, search for PROTON JUMBUCK..
Same car SATRIA / JUMBUCK just that one is a ute / truck the other is a hatch.

It is a shame you guys missed out on the early Evo's.... They are awesome cars!

Hmmm interesting that we never got those utes over here - It sounds like they are the same as the Mitsubishi Libero (S/W)

That proton truck is pretty cool (esp. with an evo III front). Damn shame its FWD. I dont understand why they didn't make a factory AWD version of it...
