Heated vs. Non Heated o2 Sensor

My jdm galant takes a 2-wire non-heated o2 sensor stock. The o2 sensor harness only has 2 connectors, where the replacement I bought a while back has 4. My solution to this was attaching the 2 wire plug from my old o2 sensor to the new, 4 wire o2 sensor, connecting only the necessary 2 wires. The problem with this is the heater wires are left disconnected, and as such, the o2 heater does not function.

Is there a benefit to running a heated o2 sensor with our cars? My o2 cycles fine once warmed up, but I am wondering if it would be worth connecting the heater wires for more consistent operation?

Thanks

if it only had a non-heated O2 sensor from the factory then it should be fine with a non-heated one on there now. Does it take excessively long to warm up and cycle properly? I would say the heated O2 sensor was fitted to the USDM models for emissions reasons rather than performance reasons.
