Anybody replace their door plastic liners?

The plastic sheets on my doors were almost UV rotted, and tore apart when I tried to remove them. Has anyone replaced them with some plastic etc. from a hardware or fabric store? If so, any tips on what to use?

I did one on another brand vehicle. I think I used some poly sheet like is used for insulation vapor barrier. Can't recall what I used for adhesive, maybe some rope butyl.

I almost used 3mil painters drop sheets from Lowe's on mine, but got lazy. I bet it would work well.

I've never put it back in any car after taking the doors apart, and never missed it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I've used mylar before with good results, but those can leave a nasty papercut!

That's an option, but I hate drafty doors! Want to do this thing up right.

I have thought about mylar homewrap. Then I realized that I would have to buy $100.00 worth that could wrap a house. Any one know where to get smaller quantity?

^^^McMaster-Carr sells that pretty cheap, believe it or not (never but it from a stereo shop; the mark-up is incredible, much like "Hi Lift" jacks (cost = $15; 4x4 sell for $90)

I used the mylar from our plotter...stuff's pretty pricey, but they were going to throw out half a roll, so why not!

I've got enough self-adhesive sound deadening around from old orders to do two front doors - the thin sheeting is more effective for drafts though. PM me if you want to talk about it more -

I didn't put sheeting back in my vr4 and it's fine - I didn't on my VOLVO though, and can feel the draft through the door's trim bits.

I know they used to sell it, although I'll have to check my notes...they don't call it dynamat, but that's what it is (name brand)...They do change vendors every so often, so it's possible they don't carry it (but can order typically). I do remember it was like 40% less than stereo shops and with my "at cost" price (dad works there), it was extremely cheap and I kick myself for not ordering a bunch (if they no longer carry).
