Picked up some Evo 8 wheels locally and the 235/45/17 tires are pretty shot, Are there any suggestions on a size to run or stick with that size?

Anyone like any of the sub $100 a pop tires?

That size is what I run. I know guys who have squeezed a 255 on em though.

I am big into recycling though and if your not into sacrifice or burnt offerings, you may want to stick with 93 octane.

I read a while back that squeezing a wider then normal tire on a wheel actually hurts performance and traction. I'm almost thinking about tossing some 225/50/17 snow tires on them maybe, but I'm glad to hear that when my car is back on the ground (JSB) the tires on them should work for now.

I ran 255/40(nitto nt05) on my car and it felt heavier now im on 235/45(perelli) which feels better. Prolly saving 5 +/- pounds on each tires.

what made it feel heavy was he wheel wallowing in the tire not the weight. you get this on 4x4's all the time when a narrow rim is used in a wide tire to protect the bead. if your sidewalls pull in to the wheel you need a wider wheel. if the sidewalls stretch out to the wheel it'll be very harsh. ideal is a perfectly vertical sidewall.

How do you make a small fortune racing? Start with a very large one!!!

given stock rolling diameter is 195/60 R15 I would be inclined to go with 225/45 or 235/45 as a maximum.

I've run both 245/40 and 235/40 on a 17x8" wheel. The 235 fits nicer and rides nicer IMO.

On my GVR4 I run Yoko S•Drives 245/40/17 on EVO 8 wheels (I love this combo)

On my DSM "Talon TSi" I run Khumo SPT *soon to be ECSTA XS* 255/40/17 on EVO 9 SE BBS's (higher tire pressure is needed to combat sidewall flex) the Talon also has fender mods to make the 255's fit.

But if your looking for an opinion here's mine... 245/40/17 good contact patch nice sidewall thickness on lowered galant and pretty much clears all suspinsion and body parts... Kinda, but you don't really need finder liners anyway LOL

Yeah its me "SGTdave". ...and I still don't fuck around when there's work to be done.
