very good point. if the caliper pushes in hard you can also release the bleeder valve to see if it is the hose or the caliper that will require a replacement. if caliper closes from opening the bleeder then the hose is bad.

I mean my driveway is a 90 degree turn off a 55 mph road. So I was doing 65 prior to braking into my drive way. I'm sure doing that test won't hurt. I'm going to replace brakes anyways. There was abnormal wear on my rotor it seemed so I'll post a picture of that. Thanks

Okay bought some duralast max brake pads. [Tell me how shitty they are] I like there lifetime warranty so I can replace brakes for free. I posted about smoke from hub. Would it be a bad idea to rotate the rotors? If it's a hot spot wouldn't that solve something?

Cars been on my mind, any virginia owners care to offer their service and knowledge of tuning, I'll pay. I feel I read something about afr on boost. Mine reads 11.2 -10.9 other drivers have said I run rich. I'd like to get that fixed. I need to get v3 too

Rotors that change colors are now a bad idea to use because they were severely overheated. Usually it is just a noise that follows, but you may be able to get away with running them and no issues.

What are the odds that your rotors aren't warped, corroded and just giving you a reason to replace them along with the seized caliper and/or the collapsed flew hose?

Figure out what is wrong, and clean up the system. Call it a day and remove the worry.

Yeah i think it's the rotor. I took off the driver side, and the front cylinder is rusted. Took a lot more effort to depress. I'll order a new one. What's the best route? Rock auto? Oem? Parts for sale thread?

you mean caliper? id go with OEM if possible, also you will need to replace the rotors at this point. if you had a sticking caliper then the rotor for sure has a hot spot and i wouldn't trust that or have them shaved.

Edit: did you open the brake bleeder on the caliper to make sure its not a collapsed line.

Yeah i haven't tried. The car will be parked today till repaired.I was about to order caliper, but then the thought crossed my mind. If my car is 5 lug swap with 97 wheels...will I have gvr4 calipers or eclipse? It's twin piston

Calipers are the same on a GVR4 and 92-94 AWD 1Gs. 5 lug swap doesn't affect anything

I assume that means he just has to make sure the fitting on the side is identical to the style the GVR4 uses for the flex hose fitting, correct?

Do GVR4's use banjo or screw in fittings? I assume banjo bolt ....

Thanks for the 5 lug swap info.

Flying, I didnt think of that, I guess I should though. I haven't Blead the line yet to see if it's a bad line. I'm still ordering a new caliper for that side. I did not like the rusty flakes coming out of the front piston. Ill go ahead and order the caliper, oem has 2 different calipers, one for before March of my production year and one after, that info should be on my door jam?

As mentioned above, 5 lug should not affect the brakes. GVR4 calipers use a screw in line, not banjo. Also, I have never seen any difference in front or rear calipers by production month. Where are you seeing that information?

*Thanks for confirmation Iceman, as I did indeed install GVR4 front lines onto my C53A Colt with a turbo brake setup, and they were screw in style!

Been a few years since that was performed.

Well I ordered parts for a 97 eclipse because I didnot know what the PO had useD. I got his email back today saying he used 90-92 eclipse gsx rotors and calipers. So I don't think the rotor or the caliper will do for my setup. May have to return.

I know that sounded straight retard. But i didn't know what the measurement measured. If it was spacing I think I'd be okay. But I'm pretty sure it's diameter. Meaning I'd need a different mounting bracket?

Sounds like someone went backwards on your brakes and installed regular galant or 1g small brakes.

Yes,that measure is diameter. You need the right calipers.

Your car has the factory 2 piston 276mm rotors.

Don't know what the confusion is nor do I feel like reading. Order pads and rotors for a 93+ Talon or Eclipse.

I just read all this and ^^^ what he said is exactly right! Buy 93/94 DSM AWD Pads, 276mm rotors and twin piston calipers with the brackets. The whole thing will bolt to your knuckles with zero modifications.

I think the point was missed. I'm not looking to upgrade at the moment just replace what I have on driver side. I have a twin piston caliper. And I haven't compared my rotors to the ones that came in mail. I already bought new brake pads.

That's what belongs on it. The 2g twin piston calipers are wrong, but maybe you can make them work. The stock Gvr4 brakes are the same as 93-94 AWD DSM brakes but with 4 lug rotors. I should know my Colt and Galant both use them.

I think I spoke too soon. I think there is wrong information on my end. The Pecos owner says 90-92 AWD brakes. But he could be mistaken. I have not returned the new rotors just for that reason. Because I have the ones needed for the setup all of you are referring too. And in the 5 lug conversion write up wouldn't it mention to use 93+ brakes and components? I hate to think the PO downgraded while trying to make an upgrade.
