other than mounts perhaps the engine is the same, trans may have different ratios but the stripped down long block is pretty much identical.

I swear the evo is like the modern day vette, By my count Chevy must have produced seven engines for every corvette rolled out. Just cause it's evo does not make it better.

But why?

I'm with this guy. What's the point? Did you happen to come across a good engine for dirt cheap or something?

Got a really nice EVO 3 motor for cheap. Engine in the vehicle has 230K, and some bearing noise cold. Figured if the swap was easy enough I'd put the EVO 3 motor in the car.

It's been done a few time around here, normally they just swap the whole engine and drive line though just to make it easier - I believe the gearbox has a few of the mounts that are normally on the engine of a VR4 on it. That being said, the block (at least the one in my garage) still has the mounting locations drilled out for them/others.

I'd say the Corvette is the modern day vette.

We have done it and it is fairly easy but the biggest hurdle is the front motor mount as it is on the trans in an evo 3 and the long blocks are not really even close to the same as the 6 bolt gvr4 dsm engine

Head is better and different along with better pistons and a lighter crank however evo 1-3 is a 7 bolt but that is no longer a bad thing!
