Very weird idle surge

I just drove 96 after a month of not touching it and the idle is very off goes from 1000 to 1500 all the time even withthe ac on, last time i drove it it was dead 800 rpms idle and 900 with the ac on, the only thing that i did was didsconnect the battery before parking it, i am not running the coolant lines too the throttle body for about a year, ciuld it be that my idle control is toast?

 

surging idle is due to the Idle Air Controller about 90% of the time in my experience. After long periods of sitting sometimes all you need to do is pop the IAC out and clean it with some carb cleaner, but you can also test it while it is out with an Ohm meter..... thats my best guess.
