So the car has been down for a couple years. It all started with a crack in the exhaust manifold, that I replaced then it led to a turbo rebuild, new struts, radiator, SS brake lines, ABS delete, and I took out the cruise control. Do to time and money this all took about 3 years. I now proudly have her all back together and I can't get her to fire. The engine turns over, I have spark and I have fuel. All it will do is turn over and won't even fire a little. I've also replaced the spark plugs. I'm just stumped any help would be awesome.

Thanks Derek

Is the gas 3 years old also? If so drain it all and put a new filter in. I would also do a fuel pressure test.

Don't go very far without getting it running smooth.

There is a connector on the firewall to engage the fuel pump and you can pump out your gas into an approved container.

Not sure if the VR4's have a drain plug, but that saves sending anymore junk fuel up into the filter and possibly the rail, saving grace feature on the Mirage/Colt.

Yeah I drained all the fuel out from the drain plug on the bottom of the tank and out of the lines. When I first got her started she ran great. But I only put 2 gallons of fuel in and I'm thinking that all the crap that may have been in the tank is now in the fuel system so I'm going to clean it all out again to see if that helps. I put in a new filter but after I get it all cleaned again I might put in another one or even double them up.

^^^ Yeah, I've not got much of a reputation for wrenching. I never had anywhere to work on my cars for years, but this is one of the first things I do with any new VR4.

I pull the tank completely and flush it, pull the supply and return lines and blow compressed air through those and put it back together with new filter(s) and fresh fuel. I'll change the filter once a month after that for a few months and if it looks okay after that I'll go back to regular replacement schedules. If I am still getting crap in the system after that I start thinking about more serious restoration or replacing some seriously crusty components!

Hopefully your car just has some sediment in the system.

So I have removed my fuel tank and I am replacing all the lines to clean it and fix any rust I may find. My question is about the vent tube that is hooked to the smog canister in the engine bay not sure what it is called but I have it all disconnected with a EGR block-off plate so its basically useless and I want to get rid of it. What can I due to modify the gas tank to get rid of all that BS? Can I just disconnect it from the tank and put a breather valve on it or what have you guys done? I'm having trouble finding info on it.

Thanks Derek

I just have it open in my engine bay. If any fuel gets through it, it will just drain on the ground. Not the most ecologically sound theory, but it works.
