i had to replace my alternator, but before i replaced it i ran 4gauge wire from the alternator to the battery. I put the (piece of sh*t) alternator from autozone in and it wasn't charging my battery. alternator was no good. I only took autozone because of the life time warranty. Did i run the 4 gauge wire right? im still using the original power wire from the harness, just added the 4 gauge. By me running the 4 Gauge wire straight to the battery did i cause the alternator to go bad or the alternator was no good to begin with?

Sounds like it was wired right. Did you put a fuse on your new power line? Did you check the stock fuses to make sure they aren't blown? If that checks out, it's probably the alternator. It wouldn't be the first time one of those reman alternators was doa.
