Stuck temp gauge

I over heated my car other day. The temperature gauge isn't working. I've checked the connections on the thermostat housing and all is plugged in. I havnt got the chance to take off the gauge cluster yet to move the needle to unstuck it. I dunno if that will work or not but it's worth a try.

Anyone else have suggestions? Or is it the actual gauge itself?

Unplug the single wire sending unit on the t-stat lower housing, gauge should drop to zero ground it & it should max out. if it does that your sending unit is bad, if not it's a wire shorted to ground or the gauge.

Yeah I would try that.

I never trust stock gauges in any of my car. I usually get a set of after market gauges ASAP.
