just recently my car has been doing the high idle, occasionally not starting..i suspect something is happening to isc/ecu. I was going to fit a blanking plate to fiav soon. Do 1G's run with the isc plug disconnected when they are blanked? Do they throw any codes?

Actually one of the first things I believe VFAQ says is to just unplug the ISC, especially on a high mileage stock car. Just in case the ISC does decided to crap out it doesn't take your ecu with it. And no I have mine blocked off completely and it shows NO codes and runs and idles fine. It struggles to stay running on a cold start but I just feather the throttle for a minute and let it warm up and its fine. I've been doing this for about a year now.

Interesting.

My ISC is fine I believe but I will keep this in the back of my mind so it doesn't eat my ECU.
