Rear axle hub/ bearing removal

I need some advice on removing the rear axle hub to replace the bearings. The front ones have the middle lock nut (easier) but the rear ones does not. I have tried searching and I can't find any info about it. I may end up taking it to an autoshop worse case scenario. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This will show you most of the steps. There is even a link in there for Mitsu part numbers.

In a nut shell:

Remove all brake hardware
Unbolt the axle from the hub cup.
Drop axles out of the way
Undo large nut in back side of hub
Tap out with deadblow hammer
Remove old bearings
Install reverse order

FYI, you may want to leave the brakes on until you break the spindle nut loose, might make it easier.

If you don't have access to an impact gun (a good one), Jeff is right. Or you can bolt the wheel on and lower it down, use some big pieces of wood to block the car from rolling.

I just used a 1/2" Snap-on gun and they came right off.

Got everything assembled today, it was a seized up inner bearing. I used the impact gun to loosen/tighten the 27mm locknut. I took the hubshaft assembly to a machine shop to replace the outer bearing as well. Thanks for sending me your thread. It helped alot.
