Potential Software Change this Weekend - Expect Downtime

Updating this post as of Oct 27th... I'm waiting for confirmation but we might be ready to do the software upgrade this weekend (29/30/31). I'll be sure to post an update once I know for sure. Waiting on a couple different people who need to be involved. Fingers crossed!

Just an update - the file transfer process to the new server is taking a LOT longer than expected for various reasons. Looks like the downtime we're anticipating likely won't happen until Monday. I'll keep you posted.

Another Update...

Ran into some challenges with the migration process. Plan B is to simply copy the site to the new server and get it running in its current state (which will be challenging as well) and then once it's running I'll work on updating the software at that point. Was hoping to move the site over and migrate the software at the same time. The existing software is just too outdated.

Ha, so plan C is now in effect. I'll be running an update of the forum software here on Ryan's server (the plan is to start this next week) to get things updated to a point where it will function on my server. Then I'll move it to my server and continue upgrading it from there. I'll have more info once I nail down a day to get started.

Sort of - but it will remain separate from DSMtuners, no plans to merge the two sites. Excited to get things updated though.

Here's where we're at - I'm working with the UBBthreads developers to get this software updated here on Ryan's server, before moving it to mine. From there I'll complete the software update and migration.

I honestly wouldn’t be mad if there was a merge. Keeping it it’s own entity makes sense. However, It would be cool if there was a way to keep the site within DSMtuners, keep the same home page and web address and feel…but contained within. I’m sure it would be way more work than it’s worth. I’m just stoked to see a little bit of new life being injected into this community.

Updated the first post to give an update - hoping to possibly start the software upgrade this weekend. Waiting to hear back from Ryan to see if he can make a change on the server to allow the developers to get started.
