Recently I was scanning Facebook Marketplace and came across this 1991 Galant VR4 in Tennessee for $1500. I immediately jumped on it and had it shipped to my location. The plan is to restore the whole car front to back for my son's 16th birthday in a couple of years. We own another one of these that we bought 2 years ago, though it is in much rougher condition than this one. However, that car came with a motor and this one did not. The plan is to use the motor from the other car in the shell of this car to make it run. We already tore down the block and are getting ready to send it out to a machine shop for a cleaning, deck and fresh hone. To watch us tear down the block Click Here:
The car did not come with a front bumper, grill, or headlights on the car, so right away we installed the ones that came from the other car.
The interior was in great shape. Once cleaned, the leather was in great condition, and some leather conditioner turned the seats from faded to shiny in a matter of minutes. The dash was in great condition with no fades or cracks. The center console was in good shape just as the rest of the interior and it even came with an original shift boot and a 2g DSM shift knob.
Found this factory stereo, which I believe is original to the car.
Has the stock exhaust still intsalled. Underside of the car overall looks great, and seems to be in great shape.
The car came with a transmission and and a transfer case. We still don't know either work.
Since we bought the other car 2 years ago, we have a build thread going on DSMTuners as well, but we wanted to join up here at GalantVR4 Forums as well to tap into all the knowledge and people here. Actually, if you search 1458 the car has actually changed hands a few times on this forum.
