Question for you guys. I am having my block and head machined, and head rebuilt. The machine shop is balancing all engine parts, boring engine block, and all other machine work to it for $325. For head rebuild (I supply parts) he is cleaning head, decking, 5 angle, cuting heads for 1mm over, installing all new valves, guides, seals, etc for $375. This is my first Dsm build and wanted to see if you guys thought prices were fair. The guy is a stud machinist builds NHRA funny car motors, etc.

I found a receipt for an engine build that I did in 1996 recently and I paid more than that then! Those prices seem great to me.

Damn, that's super cheap. My guy charges about 400-450 for head machining of all listed parts.

Sounds fair to me. Make sure he uses a torque plate when boring the cylinders. Some places won't. Watch out for that. Also don't forget to have your main journals line bored.
