How do I know my 89 galant is the vr4

Does it have a turbo and is it all wheel drive?
I guess with you being in the US, and it being an 89 model then it probably isn't a VR-4 as the VR-4 wasn't available stateside until mid 1990 as 1991 models.

Look at the members rides. Does it look like one of those? If not, then no it's not.
Does it have a boost gauge in the middle of the tach(6 led segments)? If not, then no.

Oh and if it's an auto, then no it's not a VR4.

^^ that would be true for the US market only.. the JDM had automatic VR-4s starting from 1989.
