having fun with my BSE kit...not!

Ok so I've come to the part where I'm doing the BSE. Well I noticed that the bearings had been removed by the machine shop. Not a big deal I got new bearings with the kit I ordered. Now going with the VFAQ guide, I'm having an issue with getting the back bearing installed. Using the balance shaft is not cutting it with pressing it back in. Has anyone else ran into this problem while doing their install. Is there something else I could use that would make it a little easier? This is all I'm lacking to start installing water/oil pump and begin installing my timing belt.

Is the engine in the car or on a stand?

The bearing is a tight fit. It takes just the right angle to get it started then you can start driving it in. You may have damaged the edges of it which could be making it difficult to get in. It takes patience and a steady hand to drive them in. If you can't get it, you may want to source a new bearing in case it's damaged or wrong.

I've done several BSE's both in car and out of car, and I've used the shaft to drive the bearings in and each time it has worked out great.

Honestly it should be easy with the engine on the stand, especially compared to it being in the car. Just line it up straight and hold it in place while giving it a few light taps to get it started. Once it will stay in on its on you can drive it on in. I've never had any issues using the old balance shaft to do this.

If you have an access to a domestic camshaft bearing installation tool, give that a try as well.

i might have access to that. I haven't tried again yet, but i will see if i can borrow this tool.
