Description:
- 2009 RX-8 R3
- Aurora Blue Mica
- approximately 25000 miles (will not go up as she is sleeping for the winter)
The R3 version was introduced for the 2009 year model. The R3 package adds improved suspension over the base model by adding Bilstein shock absorbers and a foam filled front crossmember to improve rigidity. The R3 also comes with 19-inch BBS-forged aluminum-alloy wheels and high performance tires.
On the exterior, the R3 has a more aggressive front bumper sporting a splitter, lower side sills, and a standard rear spoiler.
In the interior, there is a pair of factory Recaros up front, along with the same 300-watt Bose audio system, Bluetooth, and Mazda advanced keyless entry and start system. The seats are color coordinated with red stitching.
Details: I hate to even sell this car, but I have purchased another gvr4. So, to make space and finances available, the RX-8 has to go.
History: I purchased it in fall 2012. I am the 2nd owner. First owner was in Carnie, Nebraska. He purchased it new, did all the service at the dealer and traded it in for a Mazda3 when he and wife were having a baby. I don't drive it much, I have hardly put 500 miles on it and most of it was drive back to Iowa from Nebraska.
I paid to have Mazda certify the car. They had to put new wiper blades on it to pass and this gives me peace of mind. The certification is transferrable to the new owner. I need to find out what it costs - $100 or less, I believe.
Condition: All in all, it is in excellent condition. But, I am super critical, so I will list stuff here even if its not a big deal. Most won't mention it, but I will so as to be honest.
Engine/Drivertain/suspension: I just had the 25k service down and it checked out great. I did it before winter came and she has not been driven since. No issues here at all. Plus, it is warrantied.
Wheels/Tires: The 1st owner put new hankook V12's on it before he traded it in, so tires will not be needed. The 19" BBS have no curb rash and perfect - nothing to worry about here!
Exterior: I will say excellent for an used car, but has a few rock chips. This cannot be avoided. I can point them out, but its not noticeable. I am sure touch-up can fix it. I hate touch-up paint. I would like to try Dr. Colorchip to fix these, but no time yet to investigate.
Interior: It is great for a used car. The drivers side recaro has some back rest play (about 1/2 inch at the position I place it in) and a little bolster wear on
driver side. The dealer says it needs a new seat rail/frame for the play. I call BS. I purchased an used recaro back and bottom cushion off the forum which is mint and have it stashed in the basement to address the wear and planned on taking it apart and installing to see where this play is coming from. This seat can go with the car for the right price, else I can sell it easily online given how rare and in demand it is.
There is a squeak coming from behind headunit. It annoys me, but is common as others have mentioned it. Just needs some felt tape. You don't hear it with the radio on.
Modifications: There have been none to the car. Now, I have some modifications stashed in the basement I bought but not have put on the car. They are as follows:
1) Swift Mach springs - purchased these from a member here. They are used, but in mint condition for lowering springs.
Again, has been put on. Welcome to inspect car to confirm this. I will sell these modifications with the car for a negotiated price or separately.
Pricing: I would like to get $21000 for the car. Probably asking too much, some may say. But, that is what I owe on it. The title is with a local credit union and will be released upon payment in full. I can get a copy of it etc if you want to obtain a loan.
Pictures: Today was a decent in Iowa. It was very cloudy, but I decided to take pictures. I am not a photoghrapher, so they don't look all professional...
Please let me know if you have any questions, etc. I will help as much as I can. I can work with buyer to have it transported at their expense. Thanks for looking!
