My Ecu went bad i removed it, MD165810 I'm having trouble finding one and i found a MD165809. I understand that mine is a a-spec and the 5809 is a j-spec. What are the differences in the two? Can they be swapped?

That is for a JDM Auto VR4 (See this list ). You might be better off trying to source an AWD 1g manual DSM ECU as the JDM Auto did use 450cc injectors, it also used the 13g turbo, so there could be other timing and Fuel Pressure differences.

the JDM ECU expects to control the Cyclone inlet manifold so I would say some of the pin-outs will be different to US spec. Fuel/timing maps would be similar, and somehow even with the TD04-13G turbo it makes 210hp instead of the 195hp of the US spec.

I input the ECU number for the ECU you say went bad (using PartsBase.org). You have a stock 1991-1992 GVR4 ECu then.

Have you sent it out to be repaired or looked at? ECMTuning Inc.

Stick with what you have or maybe the guys here can comment on a 1991-1994 DSM ECU being used in it's place.
