I am starting to get back into getting 1948 back up and running to enjoy again. At some point during the years the fuel filler hose developed a crack and moisture got in and rusted the inside of the tank.

My best friend was able to source me a fuel tank from a wrecked JDM GVR4 and I want to prep and repaint it.

For those that have repainted their fuel tanks...what did you use to strip the original paint? Aircraft paint remover or regular sanding?

I started to sand it but its tedious work and feel there has to be a better way.

Also what paint did you guys use to paint the fuel tank? I am thinking of using VHT wrinkle paint for the tank.

Thanks in advance.

hello . It is best to paint with epoxy. The vht textured until dirty things from the road stick.
If you want to do it yourself, use stripper and then wire brush on your drill.
