Realized I was actually pretty close to having it running, just need a hump hose on the IC and run a few vac lines. Apparently the NA intake manifolds only have one tiny port behind the throttle plate, and the TBs have none, so that's a little awkward.

Been running it around the last few days. Seems like the knock sensor is bad (it was leaking goo), gets a ton of knock on or off throttle at slight vacuum to positive boost. Looks like parts geek has the 1G sensor available, so waiting on that to really get on it.

Things have escalated. I picked up a close ratio transmission (WQ code) so adapting that to the stock DSM final drive. Plus doing a mild rebuild.

wow, how much work!! To which Mitsubishi does the WQ code belong?

It seems likely to be a Galant vr4 RS. It has the tall first (2.57:1) and super overdrive 5th (.617), steel shift forks, and some other things.

Oops a little late but wondering if you still have the GSX taking up space or got rid of it.

Yes I still have it here at my shop with a some other parts and parts cars. The GSX was a driver, engine and trans pulled a year ago and has been at my shop since.

Finally got the transmission back together and ready to put back in the car. Got lucky that between the two transmissions i had enough shims to get things in spec with the new part configuration. Just in time for winter weather, lol.

The ratios are on the left below, compared to the stock setup. Should be nice to have 1st gear go out to 45mph, and cruise ~3000 RPM. Unfortunately i couldn't use the shorter 3rd and 4th from the WQ box, due to pretty bad chipping on the gears on the center diff.
