Hello all. I was previously a member of Galantvr4.org I don't even know how many years ago. I put a hold on my 1991 Galant VR4 RS project close to 8 years ago now and started a business and family. I just this week picked the car up on a trailer and brought it home to continue working on, glad to be back and looking through the resources here to wrap my head back around these cars!

They’ll
Make you earn it.

I came back myself after about 15 years away.

Seems like al I do is drive it, then trouble shoot the issues.

Right now I am 1 for 1

1 hour driving = 1 hour working on it (wrench time)

Right, the car went into the shop at the start of July, since then some huge progress has been made with the fabrication work basically complete.

Fabrication work completed so far,
-Intercooler end tanks
-Intercooler piping
-Radiator
-Full stainless exhaust
-Catch can and coolant overflow
-Intake
-Modify exhaust manifold
-Move front engine mount to gearbox
-Modify sump for more oil capacity and baffle

Loads of smaller details have also been tidied up with coolant lines run, fuel run from tank to engine, most of the engine bay components like brake and clutch all rebuilt and made to look new, late model evo brakes installed with working evo handbrake drum, electric power steering conversion to make more room, Fuel tank which sat under a house for 8 years was restored and loads more. The pictures probably explain it best.
From here we are waiting for a set of pistons to show up before the engine is removed, the current engine has a 10.5:1 piston. The goals for the car have changed quite a lot as well as a reduced power goal than I originally set out to achieve almost 10 years ago. The car will be flex fuel, we are going to replace all the bearings as the engine has sat for 7 years, inspect everything and reassemble. Then the gearbox which is a very low kms Factory LSD evo 3 rs gearbox will be torn down and inspected, the clutch needs alot of adjustment then we are basically ready to send it off for wiring and tune. The current ecu is a old school link g4 so we are going to upgrade to a newer Link g4 storm and a pdm. It is penciled in for wiring end of December early January, tune in January, teething issues and then off for certification as it will be a street legal car.

Engine and mod details,
-6 bolt block
-Evo cylinder head
-Kiggly girdle
-Eagle forged 88mm crank
-Crower I beam rods
-Wiseco 10.5:1 piston (swapping to a 9.0:1)
-New OEM oil pump
-Supertech valves
-Kelford springs and retainers
-Kelford 272's (have some 280's in a box)
-Port and polished head
-Magnus fuel rail and fpr
-Precision 6466
-Tial wastegate
-Turbosmart bov
-JMFab F/F exhaust manifold (modified to account for full size rad)
-Magnus cast intake manifold
-80mm throttle body
-Treadstone 100mm intercooler
-Aeroflow AN fittings for everything
-Tilton twin plate
-Evo 3 rs LSD gearbox and transfer case (facelift is all 3.909)
-5 stud conversion
-Late model evo brakes
-Enkei RPF1's 17x8 in black

The photos may not be in order apologies.

amazing !! The engine bay was very clean.

What are the next steps?

very good choice of components. Could you show in more detail the modification of the engine mount that you moved to the gearbox?

I hope for more updates on your project...

Nice clean build! I sold my gvr4 20 years ago and just bought jspecrutz's 934/1000 build. I plan on doing the same s40 eclectic power steering. With a FPGT35r set up, there is no room for the factory ps pump.
