If any of you understand compressor maps, can you tell me anything about this one?

And for the record, how do you read these and what do they tell you?

Getting old sucks ... but it sure beats the alternative !!!

Paul, I sent you via email a couple of documents which should help explain how to read the map. Unfortunately the map you have posted is missing some key information. It does not explain what the three maps (different colors) are and the maps are generally presented with the rings labeled.

Scott and Trendsetter,

Thanks! I figured the map might be missing a legend or something but not knowing how to read the thing in the first place, I couldn't be sure. I got your email and those articles are very useful. I clearly have quite a bit of study to do.

The link above is also full of information.

Is there a way to calculate how compressor efficiency (and maps) may be affected (shifted) as a result of other restrictions in airflow (manifolds, restrictor plates etc) or does efficiency of the unit remain constant and engine power and torque values simply shift dependent upon the changes in airflow?

I am just in the process of learning this stuff myself. For info on maps check out following:
wholelottamaps
truboselectioninfo
turboflowcalcs
moreturboselectioninfofor3000gt
moreturboflowcalcs
garrettturboetechcenter
None of these apply specifically to our cars byt they are informative in general.

This is probably my favorite explanation. I understood them before I read this, yet the Garrett site still helped me out a lot and taught me more.

Here's a link

Everybody already covered the "how to read the map" links. When I see that, I see three turbos that range from about 45lb/min up to about 60lb/min (since most people have gotten used to reading in standardized mass flow units...I prefer the cfm numbers, though). The high pressure ratios look really good...those are some compressors that could support some very high boost levels. If you compare that to a 20g map you'll see what I mean.
