Anybody have pics or a writeup of how to shave the vacuum ports on top of the throttle body? It's possible that this doesn't exist and I'm just picturing aftermarket TBs in my head. A friend of mine had caps on all 4 of his ports and they all cracked. Also looking for vacuum cap suggestions that hold up.

I am considering drilling out the vacuum ports and tapping them for small allen head set screws.

I usually drill them out with a bit thats slightly bigger than the hole. Also be careful not to drill in too far. Keep stepping up the bit sizes and eventually the entire metal nipple will start turning inside the throttle body. Either back it out with the bit or grab it with a pair of vicegrips and it will pull right out. The factory hole is the perfect size for a 10-32 tap. Once I tap the holes I use some stainless steel 10-32 set screws and put some thread compound on them.

Gee whiz, Chris now you tell me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I should have done that prior to sending my '90 N/T throttlebody off to steve @ www.throttlebodys.com *I never realized that they can actually come out as I had always assumed they were machined organically to the TB.

Sorry man, wish I would have known. I have cleaned up and rebuilt a few for others for $60 (they supply their old TB). I can't bore them and make the larger throttle plate although I highly doubt it makes that much of a difference. But they do come out looking brand new like mine.
