GVR4 17x7jj Tire size suggestions?

I have 17x7jj rims that I purchased years ago on ebay. Was going to do a summer rim and winter rim and tire setup. I don't know what would be best for a summer tire size on 17x7jj rims. I think they are Konig Helium wheels based on comparison. The tires I have now are 205 40r17 on my winter rims 17x7jj Kobe. I've heard I can go as high as 225 45r 17 but I'm not sure. Any suggestions for my vr4 where I won't get any rubbing when turning?

The 205/40 R17 you have on your winter rims are smaller overall diameter than the stock 195/60 R15's. If it were me, on 7" wide rims I would run either 205/45 R17 to retain stock rolling diameter, or go 215/45 or 225/40 for an extra little bit of width while retaining a similar overall diameter. Some people go with 235/45 as that's a common size (especially on Evo rims) but they are best suited to 8" wide rims.

Thanks Fuel. Yes, the 225 size is cheaper than the 205 size. Anyone else running the 225 size safely with no problems- even if best suited for size 8 rims?

I am running EVO 8 wheels with 225/45r17 tires, no issues for me. I have some rub on 1 front fender on large dips, but that is due to stock struts being a little soft

Oh,lastly...does anyone on this earth know where I can find a compact spare tire in 17x4 4 lug 114.3? I don't want to carry around a full size rim in my trunk. I might be able to get away with a 16 just to get me home.
