Hi guys,
Im Galant funboy from Czech Republic with too much various cars mostly in not driving conditions and i´m about to build rally-ish Galant E39.
You are probably the closest bunch of folks with knowledge about the fast 6g Galants. Sadly in Czechia we dont have any source of info on fast Mitsubishis. And i know only one guy who used to have 6g GTI.

I have totaly rusted 7g E88A Galant AWD AWS i wanted as donor for my 8g V6 wagon or Colt (Mirage) CA joy car..but i have abaddoned thiese plans.
Now i can buy reasonable healthy Dynamic 4(most likely as its moded and VIN unreadable over the paint) for cheap, but it lacks engine, seats, front brakes, smashed all dors and its glass by forklift ( Volkswagen dorks )...and it have 5 lug hubs.
Someone had it for racing or some other fun and its on coilovers with camber adjusting, have uprated fuel pump with regulator and some other bits left it there.
And i would like to swap in the 6G73 2,5l 125kW iron V6 with transmision from that 7g "round" Galant.

Engine should fit to the hangers, prop can be modified using front half from 7g and second half from E39.

But how about front halfshafts? If halfshafts from 1,6 Colt CA fit in 7g Galant 6A12 110kW FWD trans (my frend have it with GTI suspension and its scary fast), i hope for the best.

Good thing on this swap would be that i could eventualy swap in twin turbo 6G72 with 6 speed Getrag from 3kGT VR-4...I know what you think right now....Get the correct engine in it you *****

Dif ratios.
I did not find them for dinamic4 nor E88A.
And i dont know if they were modified or changed to something else :-(

Brakes:

With the 5 lug hubs i could get Eclipse 276 mm rotors but can i fit 2 piston calipers from 7g?
I have to mesure them as there were 2 bolt distances (160 and 130 mm i think) on calipers on 8gen Galant and i bet 7G will have the one that dont fit on E39.
What bolt distance is on GVR-4 and is it the same on European Dynamic4?
I would prefer to have stock 4 lug hubs but only pros are originality and cheaper wheels.
Or some combo that can be found in Europe without EVO bonus price? Sigma, Grandis, Outlander?

Any advise is welcomed.
Thanks Vlasta

Hi Vlasta - welcome to the org!

You might be treading in unknown territory with this conversion I'm afraid my friend - this forum primarily is for the US-based members with USDM 6G Galant VR-4s but there are a few of us international members with various other models. Czechia is beautiful by the way - I was in Praha just over a year ago and loved it.

The E88A is a unique model to Europe and was never offered in Japan, the US (they didn't even get a V6 7G the poor bastards), Australia/New Zealand or other Asian markets. V6 models had either the 1.8L 6A11 SOHC or the 2.0 6A12 SOHC/DOHC/DOHC MIVEC. I am fairly certain the 6G73 in the E88A was mounted in a similar fashion to the other engines in the rest of the 7G range - ie one mount on the timing belt end of the engine and three mounts on the gearbox itself as opposed to three mounts on the engine and one mount on the gearbox in a 6G.

The GTO/3000GT getrag gearbox will not fit into a 6G as it is too large. The GTO/3000GT rides on the Diamante platform which is widened over the Galant platform.

Dynamic4 should have either a 3.545 or 2.846 rear axle ratio - this information is usually stamped on the chassis build plate on the firewall. If it still has the original gearbox, you can find out the ratio from the gearbox code (ie W5M33-2-WQNK) which is stamped on the top near the bellhousing.

7G twin piston calipers will fit onto the 6G but the brake line fitting is different - 7G uses a banjo bolt attachment instead of the screw in attachment of the 6G. GVR-4 and Dynamic4 have the same brake caliper bolt distance which is the same for most Mitsubishis before they started changing them around 1996 in the 8G. The GTO/3000GT Twin turbo with the larger Sumitomo 4-piston calipers is the exception.

Hope that helps!

The idea was toyed with and prototypes built, but program was cancelled. IIRC, it was a 2.5l V-6, the same engine used in the 95-2000 Sebring/Stratus versions (Chrysler/Mitsubishi hybrid powertrain).

Thanks for the warm welcome and mostly very much appreciated info.

Good point on the mounts.
For now i´m hoping that the mounts on the towers are in the same position and wont need any changes. So i will be able to put the engine in. Rear mount on crossmember can be placed more on the driver side with custom fork(engine side piece of mount). Front mount will have to be fabricated according to the front-rear engine support.

Axle ratios are the thing i´m most afraid off as V6´s tend to have longer gears than 4 bangers. It will be one of the first things to check next week when i get it.

Twin piston calipers with banjo bolt attachment have my friend, old welder who is czech Guru on 8g galants on his polished wagon. I think they are from Sigma and he got braided hoses made to fit them so i will follow his rote.

Now i go to prepare towbar from 7g to put it on my 8g, so i can drive for the 6g....logic right?
As rest of my junk dont have axle, is not registred, or without technical inspection, or not trusted to go more than 10 km away and howl something hevier then....well...itself. And i dont want to borrow fathers car when i was told i will be kicked from house when i get another car on the garden. Thats why i have bad in my van and a diesel heater...still not connected.
