been working on the car slowly but surely...still up in the air on what i wanna do engine wise, but for now im just rebuilding it as a stock engine, and i will be getting a 4g63T in the near future from my friend which i plan on rebuilding as well

started out by cleaning out the interior and jacked up the front to see whats going on with the transmission, turned out theres a small crack on the block causing the transmission to move away from the flywheel, so im planning on pulling the entire engine and transmission, gonna do a rebuild on the engine, gonna decide when tearing it down if im going to boost or not...might just do a NA build cuz the car will be a DD

started to remove the engine wiring harness and prep the car to have the engine pulled
all thats left is to remove the fuel line, axles and drain the oil and coolant and its ready to pull

pulled the engine and teared it down, tomorrow gonna disassemble the block and then order what i need
engine is a 6bolt 4g63 yay
Big Thanks to My Dad giving me a hand

you should def figure out a budget/goal and do your engine accordingly. doing it once right is much cheaper than a bunch of times 'ok'

you have plenty of options even if you want to do a budget build though. honestly given the success of people on stock/junkyard builds Id like to see the numbers you make with boosting the NA pistons. with the tuning and fuel that is available now days should be able to put down some pretty decent numbers.

I'd love to hear more about teh prep work Eg. what products you used, how much time per task such as sanding, fill coats, what the worst spots/issues were, etc.

sander:
click

paint gun (primer and will be used for paint as well):
click

timing is hard to average, since im doing it little by little....but the majority of the body was sanded, primed, and sanded in 6 hours....best advice i can give is dont overwork urself, let the sand paper do the cutting, take ur time and dont rush, make sure ur surface is nice and smooth before u move on to the next part, u can do hood first, then fenders, then doors, roof, quarter panels and trunk lid, do it section at a time if u dont have the time to do it all at once, for example: i did the hood and fenders the first day primed it, then i did the roof, then i worked on the doors, quarterpanel and trunk in the same day because i had more time, and primed the rest of it, wet sanded the entire car the next day, and im prepped to prime the second stage already, just gotta pass the sand paper lightly around the car to get off the excess dirt

work done:
grinded off all paint down to the metal where there were dents and dings (only 5 thruout the entire car)
#1 major dent (drivers fender)
pushed out the dent from behind, grinded dent down to metal, used 80 grit sand paper where the grinder wouldnt reach
used professional body filler (greenish colored) to fill and smoothen the dent, sanded, primed with etching primer
other than that there were smaller dings where i repeated the process, primed

sanded all oxidized paint with the air sander until OEM primer was showing
feather edged where the oxidized/good paint met
wet sanded all good paint to cut the clear
final wet sand over entire car (light)
masked off all windows, doors, handles, locks etc
primed with 1.8mm tip spray gun
(note: front was primed with just base primer, rest of car was primed with high rise primer)
wetsanded primer til smooth...

next steps are:
sand window trims down to metal
prime with black etching primer
mask off window glass
paint the window trim with black trim paint

mask off interior to paint the door jambs white
mask off entire car
remove door handles (will be painted trim black)
re-prime the car with 2nd layer
wetsand
2 base coat
3 clear coat

opinions:
should i paint the roof black? or leave it white and paint just the drip mouldings black?
note:
handles, door trim, and the "chrome strip" around the bumpers and side cladding will be black

overall this was an easy car to work with, no rust, no rot, body was immaculate besides the dent in the fender and 4 other dings around the car...not much body work was necessary
