Why can't we quote the last post in a thread?

There was one particular user who loved to quote the previous reply and after turning a few too many picture posts into a giant redundant bandwidth barf I decided to fight back.

But it's true, you can still quote, the button is just hidden. Just please edit accordingly and don't quote pictures unless you have to.

I still like to manually quote sometimes to ensure there is no confusion about who I'm responding to. Especially because as you are preparing your post, someone else might post and therefore your's will be further down than you originally intended.

I've done it manually a few times because, like Barnes, I want to make sure my post is directed at the right poster or question.
Was just curious if there was a reason it was disabled on only the last post by default.
