My car was not starting. I knew the plugs were bad so i changed the spark plugs and it started right up. But after this my car is giving off white smoke from the exhaust. It has a humid feel to it like steam from burning water. No difference in performance noted. Is it good or bad? I do not think its burning oil. Havent tested it at hard acceleration, just cruising around.

Its not the headgasket otherwise i would have to fill the radiator again and again and get heatup problems on long drives.

Then it's a cracked block pick your evil. Your burning coolant. Can't be anything else besides coolant, oil is black, petrol is blue, and coolant is white. Your car could run fine with a coolant leak in the head gasket.

Huh? I think the common standard is blue for oil and black for petrol. Either way, smoke color does not always correlate with that standard. I've had valve seals that leaked so bad and burned so much oil it was a thick billowy white cloud that would leave the tailpipe.

Are you sure it's not just steam? Have you driven it long enough to get the car fully warmed up? I've had single digit temp days where the car burned off the condensation in the exhaust for quite awhile:

Car warms up, steam stops.

If it is coolant, you should be able to smell it.

He's in Pakistan, so I'm guessing he is using an incredible amount more water than we would. It might not be a strong enough smell.

It does seem like steam but its coming when the car is warmed up also. My 4g93 used to blow off steam for very long times and used to give a lot of water from the exhaust.
Eric is right we use more water then coolant down here. The ratio of water/coolant is 80/20. Some people do not use coolant at all.
It might be steam for long duration i guess, the weather is pretty humid also. I did not know that turbo engines can give steam for long durations as they tend to get warmed up quickly as compared to non-turbo engines.

Well mine only burns off the condensation as steam when it's really cold out. I didn't realize you were in Pakistan and had to look up the type of weather you have after it was mentioned. My cars don't do the steam thing when it's 90 degrees out.

Wop: thanks for calling me out on the colors, I had them backwards. Your completely right. your also right about oil burning white, but that takes almost a quart or more in the exhaust to make that much. It's not condensation.
I'm wondering if you can get a pic of the smoke coming out. Maybe that will help us pin point the cause.
